Did they actualy 'produce' this song?
Ok, I know Hooky obviously does bass on this, but what does barney do on it? the keyboards and guitar? Someone also said he does backup vocals but all I hear is a woman.

No they didnae produce it, going from memory here (so there may be some inaccuracies) but from what I remember, Hooky and Barney recorded their parts here and sent them over, I think it was Hooky who said he wasnae that impressed with the final version. I may be wrong, but there's an interview floating about somewhere that will clear things up.
Hooky said in NME something like he was led up the garden path with that song and shagged up the arse when he got to the end.

Barney did the background vocals; they're very faint though- I doubt that they could have twiddled his vol. much lower!

Barney can faintly be heard in the chorus "Dont go away" and "Want you to stay". Thats his contribution I believe. Steve was more miffed than hooky, I think. He was quoted as saying something like "27 years of drumming doesnt cound for anything" (as he was left out completely).
I think it's a great bassline,and song...Did'nt like it at first,but love it now..Nice tune.
That song Gwen Steffani did called "Cool" is necter,easily her best...Her others are utter shite though.
There's a song on her new album called "Wonderful Life" that's really quite good. The rest of it is crap, of course.
There's a remix of The Real Thing on her live DVD thingy... Not bought it- I doubt Barney has been turned up on it.
