Who do I think I am? Posting 2 new topics at once? Well, I have a biological need to know if Our very own Sunny B is singing the slower version of 'Ceremony'. The vocals sound deeper and (intake of breath) more in tune than the one on 'Substance'. So is it Hooky, or I could it even be Stevie, I heard he also had a go, but decided not to become the next Phil Collins. :drummer: Ta

The original 7" version of Ceremony (the 'slow' one) was recorded in the US in late 1980 by the 3 piece band. Barney did indeed sing the vocals - personally I think it's the best vocal he ever did. Steve sang the demo version on the Western Works recordings from July 1980.

Why was it re-recorded anyway?

To make it worse of course ! No, I think they just wanted a version with Gillian on it. The original is far superior.

To be a "New Order" record.

New Order didn't exist until Gillian joined.

From an old contact, the band was called "New Division" inbetween, but so far nobody confirmed THAT other than this person in particular.
