JD Central says a new biography on Barney is coming out in July with the title "Bernard Sumner - Confusion: Joy Division, Electronic and New Order Versus The World." Now, I hardly see Barney deserving a biography of his own. Not like he's some sort of mastermind behind the whole band's writing process...lazy fucker won't even tour.

Is it just my imagination or is that a ridiculous title as well? Please join me in suggesting some other possibilities. I'll start:

Sympathy for the Coke Mule The Man Who Would Be Sing Gay Disco for Dummies Yachting: An Ideal for Living Auto-Cue and Me

if barney was doing it it would be an autobiography

Yes, I think that would be pretty obvious, hence why I wrote "biography."

Would you prefer...

Actually, I think that Barney does deserve a biography. He is by far the most interesting memeber of New Order. Also..its well documented that he does write a lot of the music. He also does a lot of the arrangements, and writes all of the lyrics. In this case, Id say that he is musically the most influential member of New Order

Well I'd certainly rather read a biography on Bernard than I would read one of the slough of biographies of air headed nobodies who are famous because of who they have slept with. Or 'I had a minor hit record and here's my life story at the age of 21' etc that are already out there.

Yeah what on earth could Barney write about. Hes only got 30 years experience in the business, written some of the finest songs ever, toured the world over, gained critical acclaim (that many bands would sell their drummer for), inspired a world cup team to within a post of the Italia 90 World Cup Final, supported various charities and promoted Manchester, outlived punk, rave, Britpop scenes and maintained his integrity throughout.

Bernard Sumner could write a fascinating biography of his life and the music business. I hope one day he does.:thumb:

I had wondered when a biography would appear although I had supposed that Mr Hook might be first off the mark. Apart from their shared history Hooky has the upbringing in West Indies and the Mrs Merton interlude which would be a commercial pull. Barney however could of course reveal why he became a racist skinhead and admit that Joy Division were Nazis after all!

Hooky's could of course be this occasionally mentioned "How Not To Run A Club" he talked about last summer, would be a fascinating read if he ever gets it off the ground. Have there ever been Hooky biography offers before? I'd do one if given the chance, it would have to be official though.

Would his memory be capable of writing a book, when he can't even remember lyrics?

Meeow! True though, how accurate would it be? Hooky gets his anecdotes muddled up these days, and he's the sharp one!

Hrm, I'd say that this sounds interesting.

I'm still here. Same as it ever was.

And I think people have missed the point. It's not Barney writing the book (as if he could). It's an unofficial biography (no "auto" there) written by some random person.

Pretty much died laughing over the suggested book titles. :rip: . As long as it finds its way cheaply onto a shelf somewhere, I'll probably read it.

Though, it'd be a bit better if it was an autobiography. I mean, I actually enjoyed the liner note deal from RTP... imagine what he could do with a whole book's worth.

I'm only half being cheeky.
