the embedded videos don't work for me. anyone else troubled?

The you tube ones work fine for me Pope...

but I couldn't get any other types to work maybe it's only youtube it works with?

Somehow, I can right click and then left click on Settings for the Flash Player. But it won't let me change the settings...:( Oh, well. I'll do something about it tomorrow.

So, to clarify myself up, and so that no one else tries to snob me for my system of things--

I *do* believe in the afterlife. Never really believed in fairies. Stopped believing in Santa Claus a VERY long time ago.

Now you, MIMX, can nitpick on me all you want, but it's exactly as Lenny puts it best.

Wasn't meant personally. But as I said it's way past time we (humanity) gave any credence to such unprovable/unscientific tripe. I was NOT being facetious when I noted it (religious belief) has as much validity as "belief" in faeries, unicorns, Santa Claus, a flat earth, ghosts, dragons, leprechauns, witchcraft etc, etc.

Nor was I being facetious when I said it only allows the mindset of the religious extremists to flourish: and I'm not just talking about Muslim extremists,or the Middle East, but also Bush and his ilk, and the sectarian nonsense that has blighted Scotland/Northern Ireland, and many parts of Asia including India. All these people have being fighting, and dying for, their particular interpretation of how we should live/behave according to their God:- always a figment of the imagination

I can think of a great many arguments, scientific/moral & logical, against religious belief: eg If God is omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent why the fuck does "he" let evil flourish? As many a child asks who/what designed God? (An as equally valid/stupid question as the "argument from design"). Which God is the 1 true God? The Christian 1, the Jewish 1, the Muslim 1, the Buddha? Or were the Romans/Greeks right? Are there a multiplicity of Gods? The Vikings, does Valhalla exist? What about the other beliefs, Afro-Cuban syncretism, Hinduism, Jainism, Sikhism, Bahaism, Rastafarianism, the Aboriginal belief in the "dreamtime", Red Indian belief in "elder brothers", what about the Aztec's and Mayan beliefs? Where they right? It's actually staggering how the incidence of these beliefs coincides with the geographical spread of some type of hallucinogen, mushrooms, peyote etc.

I leave you with this thought: (you probably know the last bit of this quote, but it's always denuded of it's power when only partially quoted) Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, and the soul of soulless conditions. It is the opium of the people.

ps sorry Jennifer, my 1st post did look as if I was sneering at you instead of religious belief. Sorry but "every emancipation is a restoration of the human world to humanity itself" come on back to us! "We always live in peace". Or as I mentioned elsewhere "if Jesus comes to take your hand I won't let go,I won't let go"!

Heh, just keep in mind the fact that I don't mind talking philosophy and faith. And I'm not mudslinging--don't mind my ill-temper much. [It's been a long day, and I'm overdue for bedtime!!]

I live in Macclesfield and would advise that it WAS sunny for around a week last summer.

Ok it was a little cloudy but it wasnt raining.

It was sunny the entire week when I went to go visit Ian's site in Macc. I went with another member of this message board. We went in August and it was extremely hot and humid the entire week in Manc.
