So...has anybody already bought the 12" of "Here To Stay" ??? What's the mystery behind this "Crystal" version on this one ??? Any difference to the single/album-edit ???

it's mentioned in this thread that it's the album version.

It's a different version. Better in my humble opinion. I believe it is the version from the fabled GR advance promo. The last two minutes or so have a lot more guitar and bass. And pops and scratches, but that could just be my stylus.

It's inevitably going to sound subtly different on your Vinyl version anyway. Still believe that its the same as from the album. Do you have a Vinyl copy of Get Ready perchance? That'll be the key to finding out for sure if it's the same version then... :nod:

It is true that the early advance promo version of Crystal is different only in the last couple minutes.

Hey - cool it! I'm not talking to you as if you are an idiot. That Never was my intention! It's you who interpreted my words as such...........let me just say in my defence that I haven't got the vinyl version of Get Bloody Ready as the fucking shops round here never supplied any, so I'm only querying the possibility that the Vinyl LP version might sound similar to the 12" cut you described above.....(I did after all ask if you had GR on vinyl as well)....I certainly wasn't stating that as FACT, simply cos I haven't heard it myself - rather just pondering the likelihood of a resemblance to the album version that's all.....okay Blue?? ;) Am I forgiven??

Yeah, sorry. I was a bit over-aggressive there. It was the suggestion that I couldn't tell a CD from a record that riled me. When I change my name to Old And Senile Blue you'll know its time to worry.....

talking about different mixes.....

anyone has the US NewOrder/JD 20 years Promo?

the Crystal and 60 m.a.h. are different from GR version Crystal is shorter while 60 m.a.h. is quite different with some breakbeat in the mix.....

so anyone know anything about this? are these the rare pre-release mixes?

The advance promo version of Crystal is exactly the same as the official release version, except for a 30-second bass solo :guitar: in the middle of the song (starting at 5:40 I think), which makes the advance promo version 30 seconds or so longer... and better :clap: ! I just can't understand why they didn't keep this bass part :nonono: .

I have the '20 Years of New Order' CD, and can confirm that '60 Miles An hour' is a different one, credited with remix & additional production by Dave Kahne. The running time is consistent with the New Order Discography's track details for the "david kahne mix recall 2" which was a test pressing by Warner back in January 2001 - presumably before 'Get Ready' had been fully mixed. However, 'Crystal' is exactly the same as the UK radio edit on that compilation. 'Love Will Tear Us Apart' is a different recording I've not heard before, however.

As for the 'Here To Stay' Crystal, that's definitely a longer version which "rocks out" a bit more towards the end, and has a few sound effects missing which were present in the album version. I read a track listing on New Order's offical (and pants) website that billed this as the 'Original version).

...well, the LWTUA-Version is the same as on the "Permanent-Best-Of"-CD of Joy Division released in 1995. And this one was the a-side of the vinyl-release i guess...or???

I don't have 'Permanent', so it's probably that version, but the Joy Division 'Substance' single version is a different (and better) recording of LWTUA which I think is the one which everyone knows.

Yes, and i guess these two versions are on the original 12" vinyl single!
