looks like NEW ORDER are bringing out another "best of" chances are youve got all the tracks will you still shell out your hard earnt to make you collection complete? if not.. what would make you buy it?

I'd probably buy it, not to complete a collection as I'm way short of anything like that, but because it might be a good compilation of songs to chuck in the car. Most of the original albums have a duff track or 2 and I'm too familiar with the original best of and substance, new car listening material would be welcome.

depends what's on it!

but the collecter in me would buy it anyway

Some of the tracks might be remastered, as it sounded like some were on previous Best Of; that would be a reason.

i don't think so...i'm not a completest remember? i'm too sane and thrifty.

I don't think I could pass a 'best of' in the music store and not buy it if it had the name 'New Order' on it even if I already have all the singles.

What would people think of a combined 'Best of New Order and Joy Division' ?

Like the idea mysel - The Essential Collection....... the only thing is, as has been stated on The New Order best of......most fans already own everything, and let's face it - if you've got the Heart & Soul boxset - there's not much Joy Division stuff left to hear! Good Novelty value though;)

Again the 'ideal to listen to in the car' thing would work

I still haven't bothered to pick up the old "Best Of..."

Meh. M - E - H. Meh.

And why not? this had better be good;)

Even though I wouldn't need to buy it, I probably would anyway. Why do I get the feeling that the record company would probably take the extra step and promote the disc more so than they did for Get Ready, with maybe a limited edition disc of live tracks, etc.? The Lord, and record companies, move in mysterious ways.

I would buy it regardless of what was on it. Even if it only had Steve singing a medley of DeBarge songs and Gill arrythmically shaking a tambourine.

That would be a very good idea to be "The best of NO/JD", and that was the story behind "20 Years of New Order"...

But seriously, with that in mind... the tracks would be, in no particular order..

  1. Atmosphere
  2. Love Will Tear Us Apart
  3. Transmission
  4. She's Lost Control
  5. New Dawn Fades
  6. Temptation
  7. The Perfect Kiss
  8. True Faith
  9. Bizarre Love Triangle
  10. Crystal
  11. Regret
  12. Here To Stay
  13. Blue Monday
  14. Turn My Way (you know me!)
  15. Round & Round

In fact, it would be seriously nice to have new studio versions of the 5 first ones recorded by New Order, but that, I'll keep dreaming.

i never bought the first best of anyway, because it pissed me off, if just for the fact that age of consent and love vigilantes were shown as the best that mid-80s new order had to offer. age of consent has cool guitars, and love vigilantes is a cute little pop song, but... fucking hell, what about your silent face? was perfect kiss even on there?

I would buy it! I feel that I owe the band some money, since I got the 1st best of for free when I was working at the music store  I would have to own it since it is strictly New Order, and who knows, maybe they will put some cool remixes on it! I can only hope right?

A new "best of"? It sucks, I don't see the point in it... but I would probably buy it anyway (for my car). I'am afraid that the release of a "best of" album would mean no release of a "Recycled" boxset.

Now, this new "best of" will have to be very different from the previous one. I would choose the following tracks:

  1. Temptation (original 12")
  2. 586
  3. Confusion (original 12")
  4. Lonesome tonight
  5. The perfect kiss (original, un-edited, 12")
  6. Love vigilantes
  7. Paradise
  8. True faith (1994 remasterised version)
  9. Vanishing point
  10. Dream attack
  11. Regret
  12. Crystal (Get Ready advance promo version)
  13. Close range (BBC version)
  14. Your silent face (2001 BBC version)
  15. Here to stay (full length vocal)

Maybe now the band are back together they should re-record all the tracks for a best of, like they did with some of substance.

Perfect Kiss wouldn't be on there then :(

This would never, ever work for New Order, but I was really impressed by Oingo Boingo's "Best of..." set. The band got the track listing together and then recorded all the tracks live on a soundstage (not in front of an audience). The result: nice, pristine, new versions of all the songs.

Like I said, it would never work for the Order.

If I did buy it, then I will have exchanged money for something that has "World In Motion" on it.

Duh.

excellent idea! i think it would work for most bands but not NEW ORDER in answer to my own question YES i would buy it, just hope theres summat different on there

The only logical step left is for the Order to do what KISS did in 1978 -- release four simultaneous "solo" records with each member's face on a black cover...the black-and-white makeup wouldn't hurt either.

You know you'd buy them all.

WEll...you know me...if it says New Order on it, I'll probably buy it...just call me crazy...or anal...or whatever word you wish to use...

by the way Nic...you even have me pulling for the Habs now...

   Nice answer mate - World in Motion was on our local radio station this morning, on the guess the year round, this is the first time the fookin no-marks have ever played New Order!! So my hatred of this song is over - cos it cheered me up when I heard it at work - just had to ignore the playing fer en-ger-land bit;) As long as this is not re-released I'll be happy:evil4:

you'd best be careful then, Shugzy...word is, the Oosaka Beckham Supporters' Club is hard at work making him origami cranes in the hopes that he'll get better soon! :D

...though i s'pose in truth he doesn't have to be able to stand up in order to rap...

It would have to have at least one thing I dont have on a cd, it's as simple as that.

The current policy of releasing re-packaged Greatest Hits for most record companies is to include 1 or 2 new tracks as well as a few remixes. The recent Soft Cell compilation was superb. Digitally Remastered with a few rare versions, album tracks and remixes thrown in. There's also a good possibility that the complilation will be released on DVD which would be great for everyone.

I'm sure London Records feel no need to include JD tracks on this upcoming disc.

I cant see how no 'best of compilation' can possibly be complete without a representation of material from all of their albums.

A couple of studio board quality live "bonus" tracks would infinatly preferable to some half baked remixes as well ;)

I generally dont like "best of's" as i tend to prefer album tracks which often arent generally regarded as "best of" and thus wouldnt be particually good marketing sense to release.

Still who gives a xxxx i just make my own compilations and save my money ;)
