I make it 107. I haven't counted remixes, cover versions (other than the first single), or the Peter Saville Soundtrack ( on the basis it is more a piece of music than a song). I also dropped "The Happy One" since it wasn't 'properly' released. Here goes....

ceremony, in a lonely place, procession, mesh, EGG, Hurt, blue monday, cries and whispers, confusion, lonesome tonight, thieves like us, 1963, murder, touched by the hand, perfect kiss, world in motion, subcultue, fine time, shellshock, don't do it, state of the nation, round and round, BLT, best & marsh, true faith, run, MTO, regret, world, Ruined in a day, vicious circle, skullcrusher, sputnik, lets go, salvation theme, brutal, spooky, crystal, behind closed doors, 60mph, sabotage, here to stay, player in the league, krafty, jetstream, WFTSC, dreams never end, ICB, the him, denial, truth, doubts even here, senses, chosen time, age of consent, the village, we all stand, 586, ecstacy, ultraviolence, Your silent face, leave me alone, love vigilantes, this time of night, sunrise, elegia, face up, sooner than you think, paradise, weirdo, AIIWIW, broken promise, all day long, angel dust, every second counts, way of life, all the way, love less, guilty partner, mr disco, vanishing point, dream attack, everyone everywhere, young offender, liar, chemical, times change, special, avalanche, turn my way, vicious streak, primitive notion, slow jam, rock the shack, someone like you, close range, run wild, too late, such a good thing, whos joe?, HNWYD, ITYS, MNAD, draculas castle, GIAUE, turn, working overtime.

Anyone disagree?

what about unreleased tracks and tracks done by them and not released on New Order albums.

Well, I ve had to stop at unreleased ones, but if there are ones not on New Order albums, eg Brutal etc, then I've missed them. Haystack don't count though.

where do you draw the line. what about the instrumental versions of songs that have slighty differnt titles like The Perfect Pit, Dubvulture etc. Then there are all the remixes as well.

I'm not counting instrumentals or remixes- just tracks that are songs in their own right.

You're missing one of their older, more obscure songs.

...Temptation

Simply click on "music" then "song browser" and count...

They are all there. Just remove those who are not songs.

I found 3 you are missing already, Homage,Theme and Haystack...

Haystack can't count, surely? They were Kevin Hewick's backing band - they didn't write it!

Agreed! Bloody hell, how can you *miss* Temptation?

I just wrote them down whilst I was bored at work, so its quite possible that I have missed one or two- surprised it was Temptation though! What exactly is the status of Homage and Theme though?

Homage was a song that they played live a few times and recorded in the Western Works demo sessions in 1980.

Theme was something that at least one of the band cobbled together in a studio one day, and was put out on a Factory compilation by "BeMusic". To call it a New Order track is a bit tenuous. At least we know that The Happy One was actually an outtake from the Technique sessions.

Theme was just something put together by Hooky for them to walk onstage to, wasn't it? Don't think it ever got used for that purpose though.

Homage didn't make the list, but Too Late id, the only distinction being that it was actually released, albeit on The Peel Sessions, like someone said Theme was more Peter Hook on his tod, like Steve's Video 586, so I make that 108. Can't believe it was Temptation I missed. I expected some obscure B side!

By the way, I know this is a bit anorak-y, but I guess I am!

I think theres 586 but with all the remixes its probably nearer 1963.

A cover version, not a New Order song.

Video 586 I view in the same way as the Saville soundtrack, besides I would class that as another version of 586

Damn good question - I'll leave Ally/Nuts/Andy Discog to answer that one! :)

I've just been compiling Graham Massey (of 808) remixes/production, and I've got to 70+ so far... And there's more to do...
