Dear Barney, Peter, Steve, Gillian, and fer the time, Phil,
Well now you've gone and done it. Released a brilliant album when the world was never fully expecting you back. Now before you lies the requisite task, or is it really requisite because nothing is really necessary for you, to take the show on the road. If i may, let me diverge for a moment, I first heard New Order in 1993 at the age of 15. Regret was a life changing song for me, still ranks as one of my favorite songs ever. Less than a year after finding you, I lost me brother suddenly. The next day an old friend bought me Substance -- it moved me, consoled me, and changed me permanently. I was infatuated with four wonderful people who made music that completely touched every facet of my life. From there, I scrambled to acquire anything New Order or even remotely related. I got bootlegs, cds, tapes, videos, even made my own shirt. I found Joy Division and that grabbed something else in me. But all this time you were gone, lost from sight as individuals working on solo projects. I never saw you live, except on those videos I got so long ago. Now you are back. I have yet to see you live -- ahh the life of a poor law school student. But I'd like to through something out to you, something rooted in many New Order fans. We have all heard how much fun you are having now, reunited, and triumphantly reclaiming your place on the stage. Keep making it fun -- learn more songs for shows, play to each members strenghts, give in to your pleasures -- we don't nned the same set list each night, honest keep it fresh for yourselves. I mean, I worked in college radio and met several bands -- the ones that changed things nightly had a blast on stage with the in-the-momentness of things, just as I can tell you did from all those old tapes of shows past. I realize that I'm just a faceless fan but whatever, hopefully I'll see you on the road if you make it to the States, specifically Philadelphia or New York. That'd be cool, and no matter what I love your music, and I can't get enough of this. Thanks for the wonderful memories and the help getting me through.
