Hi everyone,

I did change the menu system, you might not notice it too much, but it's totally different.

I'd like to have your feedback on it, if you have problems with it, etc..

The reason why I changed is is because our previous menu was only supporting Internet Explorer v5.x and more, and Netscape v6.x and more.. we received a lot of feedback from people not able to access the site properly.

I do hope there is people with several configuration over here, so I can see what can be the problem on the site. I do not wish to put Netscape v4.7 and 6.1 on my machine.. I'm with Internet Explorer v6.0 right now.

Thank you,

P/S: I hope there is people with Macs also to tell me it works! You do need IE5 for Macs I think!

Nicolas, I use a Mac with I.E v5. No problems experienced so far.In fact I've never had any problems with this site.

I have Opera 5.12 and IE 3.0 (yes I know it's old, but so is my PC). Before the changes this site worked OK with both browsers. Opera was closest to the real deal though. But now I can't get the pulldown menus, only the main ones (Home, News, History etc.) When I click on one of these, it connects me straight to the first item on the pulldown menu. So the only way to see something else is to type the extension (e.g. top10.asp)on the address bar. I guess I can live with this :) But still I prefer the way it was... Now please don't bash me for using Opera!!

Actually, I was 100% sure Opera wasn't working with the previous menus of the site. We had some input it wasn't able to handle the DHMTL of the menu.

What you have now is the "default link" of the menu if you can't see the pulldown, and the link if you click too fast and don't let the time to the menu to load completely...

I will try to to a "site map" for the older browsers.. I installed IE 5.5 on a Pentium 100 yesterday and it was working quite fine btw :)

Is it just me or are all of the threads coming up "red" as if they all have new replies to them?

Has this changed too Nicolas?

Thanks

Well they are supposed to when they are NEW... and you didn't logon since then.

This system is not working right though, because if you go back to the list, you will still see them as new.

Just for the record, the menus are the only thing I didn't do myself on this site :D

Why do it when there is plenty of free scripts around.

As for freelance work, I don't have a lot of time, but it's always doable..

They were coming up red even if the posts didn't have a reply for days..basically ALL of them were red!

No worries now..it magically fixed this morning...

Great work Nicolas :)

Hi Folks,

Well, the old menus are back.. it seems like the new ones weren't working anyway with some browsers.

I do have most browsers installed at work, and the current one works with IE5+, Netscape 6+ and Opera 5+, the only damned problem is Netscape v4.7x, for some reason, it seems unable to handle cascading style sheets (any experienced html programming help welcomed).

So it's back the old way, since the new one wasn't working anyway...!

Thanks Nicolas!! And I do appriciate your efforts of making this site even better (if that's possible). Not much hope of getting 100% comptibility among the main browsers, though. Especially when those fookers at Opera don't even bother to release a version that would fully comply with hotmail.
