hello everyone,

sorry if this has been answered before but i couldn't find any thread about it...

in the 24 hour party people movie you can hear at some point an acoustic version of blue monday (well actually not really acoustic, but consisting only of a few electric guitar chords). it sounded quite interesting, but is it really a version that new order recorded ? if so.. any idea of the source of this performance ?

-) thanks a lot!

It exists only in the film. Not sure on what basis it was included. I don't believe for one minute that it ever happened.

Hi Melina,

You might already know this, it's not the version from 24 Hr PP but if you want an acoustic version of Blue Monday try the Nouvelle Vague rendering on their Bande A Parte album. 2006, Peacefrog records.

There's also a rather good, if not really acoustic, live version done by Nada Surf :shades:

thank you for your replies -)

even though i do enjoy the nouvelle vague album as a whole, i don't think the covers are that terrific... maybe i have a problem with female voices after all ! :D

i haven't tried the nada surf one...

The story goes that blue monday was written according to the principals of what does this button do, so there never was an original acoustic version.

If you dare to, you can try to track down the bootleg of the Chicago Metro gig NO did in 1983, which apparently has an acoustic version of BM on it. Or it could just mean that the sequencer malfunctioned yet again.
