This is just a plug for those of you who will be at the Old Trafford gig on the 13th July. The night after, there will be once again one of Manchester's notorious "Tribute" nights taking place at the Roadhouse venue - this time devoting an entire evening to over a dozen local bands doing covers of New Order (or Joy Division) songs (following hot on the heels of previous delights such as Black Sabbath, Madonna, Abba and Glam Rock nights before it)! :D

Many acts are yet to be confirmed, though the "curator" of this special evening - Fat Alex Stash - promises a few local luminaries will be there, and has invited a few of us to weigh in with an inspired offering of our own. There are rumours that the Livster will be partaking in these festivities - assuming she stays upright long enough to get into the venue that is :D - and one cannot rule out the possibility of a NewOrderTributeSupergroup composed entirely of NOOnliners.....so you may do well to think about dusting off your bass and guitars and joining in - subject to booking conditions of course.

I myself have offered my services in between doing stints with the current 'GB' tour - as the 14th is a free night with me - so I'm getting together in a special one-off band with a few buddies from other local bands and performing as the ICE CREAM BANDITS. This will be a six-piece band which may feature Liv on vocals or other hired hands - but nothing has been confirmed 100% yet. Except the band name, and a second one-off thrash band I'll probably be playing with called BLUE MURDER who may well be taking a chainsaw to a chosen NewOrder favourite for good measure.....:evil4: :evil4:

Any other OldTrafford-goers who may be interested in this venture? I know Timbo has already expressed his eagerness to take part - as I mentioned it to him when he and his missus came to see us play the Highbury on Friday nite (thanx mate for coming along and supporting us at that wonderfully kick-ass evening!). :thumb:

Now the difficult part ...... to decide which damned NO songs we're going to either venerate or desecrate on the night..... :D

A few advancements on this front - was talking about it to Jonathan Scott in Paris, and he will happily play bass, and I will do guitar (if a New Order song) or vocals (if a JD song - I have the dance off-pat as many of you know :)) But wich song(s) ?

hrrm...i could try sending myself there via post in some sort of vague attempt to join in the fun, but i think i would've had to do it a few months ago in order to get there in time.

(not to mention the fact that me in a big box would probably come up as "suspicious" on all the x-ray machines between here and there. :evil4: )

that being said, i think you need to recruit at least one harpist if you're going to do this thing right. ;)

Sounds great, although I can't bring my bass guitar up to Manchester because I'd end up breaking it at Old Trafford. However, if you don't mind me borrowing one up there I can knock out a few JD numbers, Transmission, Digital, Ceremony etc and would love to give it a blast. :guitar:

This sounds like great fun, and the cherry on the cake for a great Order-based weekend. Unfortunately I'm a bona fide Bez with Not A Creative Bone In My Entire Body, so can I come along and just get pissed and laugh at you all???

You could share cowbell duties with me if you like Martin!

fuck it if you have no talent just get on the stage! we can have a 14 strong band where only 5 of them actually do anything... rather like UB40...

Or you can always be the So Solid Crew.....see if they can cram 30 of you canny bastards on stage....
