I just came accross this article from Google news. It talks of some band called "Alloy Mental" who will be supporting New Order on their 'retirement gig in Liverpool'.

Can anyone shed some light on this??

No way if that gig was to be anywhere it should be in manchester where it all began !

They supported them at the Summer pops last year. Might be slightly misleading that headline.

There is no retirement gig. As PHD says, Alloy Mental were the support at Summer Pops in Liverpool LAST YEAR, which could tenuously be construed as the Order's retirement from gigs in Liverpool!

So, retirement gig in Liverpool=last gig in Liverpool, not last gig ever...

Er, it doesn't say 'retirement' gig.

It actually says 'pre-retirement' gig.

Which, technically is correct.

And has been for every single New Order gig since 1980!

Maybe they were lined up for it, then (as we know) it never happened.
