Whatever's has gone on, you have to question if a myspace blog is really the correct forum for Hooky to be airing New Order's dirty laundry.
It's such a sad bitter end to a band we all love. If they had to spilt up it should be dignified with some peter saville comemerative artwork...or just don't tell us like 93.

agreed.. also, looks a bit like internetnewbieness to me, like he doesn't quite realise the impact of a blog, perhaps.
Still hoping to hear something from the other bandmembers about this, a confirmation or whatever. Would be nice.

It's good that Hooky has his own MySpace page, but I wish he could learn to spell a bit better, as sometimes the punctuation & grammar in his blog posts are appalling!...

Er, he communicates with fans of New Order to tell them he's, er, not in New Order anymore?!
Hardly deserves a standing ovation, does it? ![]()
I'm not sure why everyone puts so much faith in Hooky's words. I don't know the guy personally, so I might be way off base here, but he seems like a guy that flies by the seat of his pants. Today he really wants to end NO. Tommorrow, however, could have him feeling different.

He'd fit in well on NOOL then. The lack of grammar and punctuation skills on this board is even worse. And the use of [this irrelevant bracket type symbol] and tonnes of these;
:p
just adds to it.
As usual it's the Americans who are the worst offenders.
No it's not the Americans...it's the frigging Chinese...

u're right and it's a sign of deep respect for the fans, indeed. Obviously Hooky is very talkative too. But as far as i remember he 's always be the most talkative person in the band. Why should he stop today. Great respect for him and his own way of being a very very famous man ( pour ceux qui connaissent, évidemment
). And anyway is it really so serious ? music for pleasure.
i think you should just appreciate the fact the fact that he communicates with fans in the first place
I agree!
Stop complaining on Peter Hook´s spell. He is a very nice guy that cares about his fans. There are lots of people taht don´t care at all about their fans.
and there's no reason he doesn't give his own feelings about NO , too. I don't agree with Al jarvis (aka El Jarvo! Olé amigo como estas hoy dia ?) even if we only read his point of view . He is a central part of the band, after all . Can we imagine NO without Hooky' bass lines ? I can't.

Time to get over New Order. They have split. They havent put out anything earth shattering for many years. Hang on to your memeories start obsessively collecting New Order / Joy Division records, bootlegs, imports etc. There is more than enough tracks to listen to for at least the next 20 years.
Well the management somehow just had to expect this from Hooky after their pathetic attempt to deny, or worse to exploit his words that MAYBE New Order could have carried on without him by turning them to something like "he can fuck off if he wants, the others will carry on". I knew we would have missed Rob Gretton, he'd have gathered them and come to a conclusion. This is much worse than 1993... Anyway, about fookin time for a word from Bernard!

Bit 'arsh. As far as I'm aware New Order's management have said fcuk all so far, they haven't confirmed or denied anything. And why should they at this juncture? Hooky's doing enough talking for all of them!
Ditto Bernard. Why does he have to say something? If you get dumped by a bird (or bloke, depending on your orientation) why do you have to come out and bleet to the world about how your relationship has gone tits up?!
As for Gretton, what the fcuk was he up to from 89-93 and then from about five months later in 93-98?! ![]()

What on earth is that assumption based on?
Nothing, 'cos it's utter bollocks.
The garbage levels on this site have gone through the roof recently.
Who'd a thought it possible, hey?

I agree, why should any of them have to say anything, I don't know exactly what has happened for them to get to this point, but I would of thought that when they walked off stage in Argentina in November, the obvious thing to do would be to leave 'New Order' as an open book, even if there were never any real plans to ever work together again. Then everyone is happy. The media wouldn't be interested in whether they still existed or not, they haven't exactly had the highest output for a band in the 15 last years. In the past I feel Barney has pretty much called the shots as to how New Order moved forward, maybe it's a case that Hooky wanted to get in first this time, who knows.

I agree with this, and this is the difference with the other splits. 1989-1993 wasn't even a split, there was plenty of events back then, World In Motion, the side projects, and Republic which was meant to be released in 1992 on Factory. 1993-1998 was a bit worse, but no member ever openly admitted a split, it was just this period when "they hadn't split but hadn't plans to work together in the foreseeable future". We just accepted that, they worked on side projects in the meantime, after the difficult time they had with the Factory bankrupcy it seemed like a natural rest they had to take from each other and we all secretly hoped they'd have come back. Rob made that possible at the right time in the right way. If he'd have asked them to play Reading in 1994 they'd have certainly refused, 1998 was the right time. This is different. A member slams the door and confirms it on his blog. If the band's future would have been left as an open book we wouldn't worry that much, we would have expected it after last year's tour and we'd wait for them to come back when they feel ready again, but this time Hooky has just said there's no more New Order. The management first denies, then says that Hooky leaving doesn't mean the end of New Order. Come on Jarvo, you've read the news on this very site. There hasn't been an official announcement, that's right. That's why we'd like to hear the other side of the story from Bernard. I guess you're curious to know what are his plans at this stage too, aren't you? Because fans care after all this time. If you split with your girlfriend you don't have to explain anything to anyone because couples don't have fans, except on amateur porn sites... :D
Can I just point out that getting all angsty worrying about whether a pop group "care" about their fans is unacceptable for all human beings over the age of 13, and is especially embarrassing when the average age of people on here is probably about 37.

Change the colostomy bag Mick......Rob Gretton was the worst for this sort of thing! Can you honestly say you ever remember something definitive coming from Gretton? It wasn't his way, and that's where they got it from.

I don't know, maybe I'm coming at this from a very different angle cos I'd pretty much accepted New Order as being done and dusted some six months ago? Perhaps not so much done and dusted as a 'band', but certainly spent as a live act, which pretty much would've killed it for me anyways.
As for Barney, he really doesn't need to bother saying anything for an age, does he? New Order really don't need to do anything this year. This is their final cash cow finally coming home to roost. Control is gonna sell the back catalogue again and push them back into the public eye so New Order, or no New Order, won't really matter - they're ex-members of Joy Divion again this year, so will reap the benefits from that alone.

that alone should keep them in the readies for some time it's amazing how much a hit single can earn you (i mean a proper hit single, not like the ones these days) from repeat plays on the radio etc.
I get your point of view (and I just knew myself New Order were about to split and was ready to come to terms with it), it's just the way it's happening, in the mid-90s Bernard had no problem talking about that period, even without saying much, he gave us an idea of his thoughts and plans. But back then journalists asked him, while now I'm just wondering if has anyone even tried to interview him. It's just surreal, Hooky writing posts on blog and total silence from Bernard. I'd just like a word from him, or from Steve, or even Andy Robinson, just to hear the other side of the story. In fact, to know what's happening in the other field, we have to be content of some other source in the management saying things of no credibility like that Hooky leaving won't finish New Order. I bet Bernard knows they are finished, it's totally useless for anyone to claim the opposite. The only explanation about this weird situation is that he and the others are still unsure about what to do, and I suppose they still hoped to negotiate something with Hook, like finishing some recordings and do a couple of final gigs. Well, this looks quite unlikely now, so they better say yes, it's been fun and 30 years of history, but it's over now, we'll see what to do on our own...

Uh, I'm still a teenager as a music fan. Anyway it's more like a problem of us caring than them. I mean, we care about what's happening with our favourite band, I never expected them to care about us, though when I met them I saw they do, in their own way. Anyway I'm not asking about anything special, just an interview or some press release, normal stuff. Any splitting band does it... I hear you, "but New Order are not any splitting band", alright, alright...
