Control first screening in Paris

The theater was packed with 400 people, many of them wearing JD or NO shirts. It's a very good film, not a masterpiece but a very good film. Every actors are just excellent (Rob Gretton is really funny) and so is the camera work. You can see that a photographer directed the film because of the construction of every frame. My most moving scene (weirdly enough but you will understand when you see it) is when JD performs Transmission on Tony Wilson TV show. The film is way more focused on Ian Curtis than on JD or on his relationship with Deborah. In that perspective, Ian is described as a nicer person than in Deborah Curtis' book. I had a weird feeling watching the film, not only you would know the story but you could totally understand Ian and predict what he was going to do. Btw, if you compare it to the unofficial trailer we could see earlier, the scene when Deborah surprizes Ian who gets a epilepsy attack is not in the final cut. Concerning the film score, I heard 4 New Order instrumentals. They were short clips with a atmospheric feel. There might be other ones but i cant be sure.

• before the group takes the boat to the continent (I am not sure it's New order, there is no Hooky bass in that one)
• when Ian goes out of the hospital after his first suicidal attempt
• when Barney hypnotizes Ian
• when Ian kills himself The Killers "Shadowplay" is played during the ending credits (after Artmosphere).

Another moving scene (it's actually just a frame) is when Rob, Barney and Hooky are sitting in a pub after they learnt Ian's death. They are then joined by Stephen and Gillian.

It was a special screening. the film will officially come out on the 26th of September here.

their should be a movie that focuses on joy division the band.. They were more than Curtis

I wondered if the filmmakers got their hands on the hypnotism tapes? That should be interesting

Thank you for the review. It sounds like it will be good to see in more ways than just the obvious. I look forward to Anton's photo eye frame by frame, too. I can only imagine that it will be beautifully constructed, just like his photography.

they are not songs, just music and very short clips. I think (but i may be wrong) that you can ever hear piano when Ian commits suicide. Oh, and the score is credited to New Order in the end credits, not Joy division unlike Pater Hook said.

Thanks for the review, can't wait until it comes out. Since there is a seperation from Debrah's book, do you feel either is more biased and one more correct?
