One of the great things about being in Digital is the chance to work with some really good musicians. And the Digital guys sometimes, when they turn up for rehearsals. 
Seriously, Jon Stubley is by far the best drummer I have ever worked with, as Cambo says, he's a drum machine tribute as well! Can I buy you an electronic kit though Jon, as my ears ring for two days after a rehearsal, you don't half give 'em a whack!
I can also recommend the drumming diet. All you do is play Transmission then Ceremony then Sunrise, then drink a litre of water, then repeat the same three songs, then drink a litre of water etc etc. Jon was 42 stone when we started the band, made Grant Hart look like a beanpole!

I always thought the drumming in We All Stand [Ayr '83] just amazed me. Never thought he could drum as wicked cool as that. :) Always gets me dancing, every time.

Hey - Give him a break! He's a bass player as well. By the way (very long shot this) you're not part of an organ / drum duo are you? Litmanen and Nieminen? If so I saw you in Oulu a year or two ago and you were awesome. If not - I'll get me coat. 
Okay, i just stand behind every drummer.When i see that somebody is say something negative to another drummer,i rase my hair up.I just playing drums, in not so famous band,but i always keeping the beat.I'm like the metronome

I do beg your pardon! The other posters seem to have accepted that a guitarist might want to "bother his head" with this question so what's your problem!

As a guitarist, anything involving good timekeeping confuses the hell out of him most likely.

Dont believe me? Play transmission using the same exact hi hat pattern for the entire length of the song, then come back to me.
You do not have to be a drum god like John Bonham or Neil Pert to be considered a great drummer. But you MUST do something out of the ordinary when you are playing your drums to be considered great.
I think in a very humbling way that Steve is such a drummer.

I don't understand what's so funny. Are you saying Steve can outdo Mel on the drums? Mel's drumming is nothing short of perfect and hypnotising! Steve's drumming is exceptional but not in the same league as Mel. If you disagree I'd sure like to see you disprove my claim.

Steve's never played for Chrissie Hinde's stunt cock, for one thing.
for another, Mel is a "clever" drummer, but his basic, fundamental style is groovy, not the impossibly precise metronome that is Mr Morris.
And I've heard em both live. I liked simple minds once, then Jim Married the creature from the black lagoon, and albums like sister feelings call, were replaced with stadium wank I never even learned the names of.

his ability to keep time ,, was well demonstrated at womak 85 when the band half stopped playing as barney "introduced" on drums., steve morris,,, he just larfed ,shook his head , kept the beat together ,, great gig ,, great drummer.
