i just bought 200 bucks worth of joy division/new order albums on vinyl over the past 3 months...

Classic. Who needs a good movie when you've got all the suspense and drama contained within one band?! FFS New Order IS Spinal Tap. Aside from the perpetually killed off drummer.

If they did do a final gig, i hope they are at odds on stage. It'll probably make them 10 times better! No whoops off Sumner mid LWTUA, some real venom in their playing and a return to some proper attitude as no encore performing miserable fuckers!.

As for tony Wilson, yeah, he's a decent(ish) bloke and has good taste in music, but has no idea of giving the audience what they want.

but in the case of new order fans, isn't NOT giving the audience what they want, exactly what they want?

are not we all fickle contradictory bastards? we loved no playing lwtua or decades or atmosphere moons ago as rare one offs. we loved and hated them doing not doing encores or this or that song or that period or this. listen to the fans, no don't. at this stage whatever they do someone moans. that's the problem of longevity and sucess.

i try not to moan about such stuff, I just prefer some songs over others throughout their repetoire.

Dunno about "fickle" - we wouldn't still be here if we were - but definitely contradictory, or at least deeply perverse.

I've never encountered a fanbase with such high (or low, depending on how you look at it) standards, or pop-punters as ridiculously demanding as New Order fans. I swear there are some people around here who've spent huge amounts of time and money invested in New Order who think they're mostly shit, most of the time (especially since, say, about 1985-6). And these are the 'ardcore devotees.

It's all part of the fun, though, innit??!!

I wish they'd just fuck off QUIETLY!!

Hooky is acting childishly. It doesn't look like the other member ever agreed on a split and that's it's Hooky who himself decided that the band is splitting.
