No wonder, it has a similar cover with the Haçienda Classics Volumes 1 to 3.

Lady bought me the first instalment for xmas when it came out,was that angry i made her take it back cos it was SHITE!!!!!

puh, THAT tracklist is really embarassing. find it quite a bit irritating that Hooky now acts as superstar dj as he never really was the one who pushed electronics forward in the band. remember reading interviews in 1991 with Bernard Sumner where he stated he wanted to make more dance-orientated stuff which was not possible with New Order as the band is a democracy. and just listen to the keyboard sounds of Revenge...

is this the stuff Hooky is playing in his DJ sets?

That grates with me a little, OK so he part owned the place but he never played there (as a DJ). Worse still is the fact that his sets dont even reflect the music that was played there.

Used to go about twice a month in its hay day (switching betwen there and Liverpools Quadrant Park), and clearly remember the hac playing stuff like NWA's Express Yourself, Doug Lazy etc.

you realise with all this revisionism of history going on, in 100-200 years time it will be taken as fact that Mani and Hooky did in fact DJ at The Hacienda and all the inconsistencies in '24 Hour Party People' and 'Control' will also all be taken as fact. There will be no-one around to contradict any of these historical liberties.

well they are real DJs and also the real DJs that actually played there and made some of the choices of records (along with Pickering/Park/Nipper/Langley etc) that are now being attributed to Hooky/Mani.

There is a Jon Da Silve Hacienda mix CD "Viva Hacienda" disc 1 is mixed by him. Disc 2 is the closest to how i remember FAC51. Disc 3 is however shite!

Disc one of Viva Hacienda is superb!

Not a connoisseur of dance mixes, but it's my all-time fave. Disc 2 is very good too, disc 3 is a bit dated as it's the hits of the time the comp was released - 1997.

I remember going to a night downstairs at the Hac in about 93 and Hooky was Djing with the help of Caroline Ahearn's brother Paddy. Well, smoking alot and passing him 12"s.

It was around the time he was doing the Mrs. Merton show and they did two of these Factory faces djing nights. Can't remember if he was married to her then but it was definitely pre-Pottsy stuff. Wilson did one aswell which I remember being really good but the Hooky one was empty.

It was all Spear of Destiny and Ministry (as I remember)... quite industrial gear. There wasn't a 4/4 in site and you certainly couldn't dance to it.

So I just can't take this Peter Hook "Hacienda Classics" stuff seriously.

I saw Barney dj at Home on Ducie Street around the same time and he was Brilliant. Kraftwerk, Electro the full hit.

I agree with the fella on here that it should be Dasilva, MP2 or if you want true Hacienda classics you can still get hold of Sasha's bootlegs.

I concur. Amazing that a band as down-to-earth as NO should be putting their name to this crap.

If someone told him the Birdy Song or Agadoo was massive in 88 that would probably have ended up on there.
