Well she was playing guitar on one or two tracks on both the last tour and the one before so that's a fair few shows. I think she should be capable of a few bar chords after all that night after night.

I'm not quite sure what the controversy was.

There was a guy playing a white Les Paul onstage. Madonna was playing basically the same two chords as him but with the volume incredibly low on her guitar.

There was no actual guitar solo that required any technique or playing ability. She just stroked the les paul up against the amp with someone else standing next to her controlling the volume/feedback.

Anyway, nice one Nic. You know you've made it when you're on THE DRUDGE REPORT.

That 'someone else' doing the knob twiddling was Stuart Price by the way.

Whether she was playing or not, at least she solved Global Warming

Genius... Although ever so slightly bizarre...

That's hilarious! Must have been a slow news day...

She should concentrate on learning to sing first, as for climate change, I'm sure her adopted kids will have a vastly larger carbon footprint being driven around the school run in her 4X4 than they would if they had been left in africa and the entire village funded by madonna for the same cost, but then I'm not a pop star, so I obviously have no idea of how to solve the worlds problems.

P.S. Kerry, the telegraph? we need to talk!

I wasn't aware that there are media people reading our posts.

So I guess we all have to be careful with what we post here...

FUCK OFF!!!:)

WTF is that :jawdrop:

Seriously, I only posted about this in the Behind Closed Doors forum on this very own site!

Back to the issue...

I honestly think that all pop singers know, at least, the notes of their songs, and able to play it, even just a few notes, on guitar or piano. Otherwise, they will be laughed by their colleagues and friends for not knowing the notes of their songs, or by not being able to play their own song!

Of course, doing it or performing it on stage is another thing.

Shit people do actually read our posts.

Take note kids.

i wouldn't bet on that, years ago boy george did a documentry and was shown in the studio, the producer asked him to sing an octave higher, he said what's an octave? :banghead:

But don't forget us Nicos - we knew you BEFORE you were famous:bow:

as for the 'madonna controversy' - i didnt watch the show (4 kids & sick wife, to much to do blah blah, also couldnt be arsed if NO/JD are not playing) But i'm certain that Johnny James & others are right - shes bound to be adept enough to strum a few chords - shes only playing along with another guitarist & her volume would be far lower. Also fair play to her for trying anyway

Congratulations, Nicholas!! :) Now you are cited you have more responsibilities. ;)

 The buggers I'm on now are supposed to make you top yerself (roaccutane), yet I feel saner than I have for years, cos they've (I think) got the bugger on the run at last. Not half as fucked on opoids either. The other side effects of the pills are far from amusing, but I don't care ;)

So, how about........

"Poster is gobby Oirish twat with a penchant for playing devil's advocate and a love of pissing all and sundry off for their own good, his comments should therefor largely be ignored unless they contain the phrase "what you having?""

Now, this business of a Journo....possibly even a MUSIC corespondent (Owens, your quote please sir  ), this is serious.

Minx, you find some really long nails, I'll go and get two sturdy planks.

A while ago I did mention that certain things in the 'music press' have been directly lifted from topics which were posted here as 'in jokes' and have then been taken and published as 'fact'.

We should start a thread saying something totally false, like a new album release or that Joy Division will tour later this year, just to see who is stupid enough to pick the story without checking their sources.

Seriously Telegraph, stop being lazy cunts and taking reviews from fucking music forums.

You're fucking journalists.

Erm...don't give me any ideas...

I'm bored enough that I just might do it!!!

Spotnick wrote: Madonna playing guitar? :skeptic:

Was that real?

BTW, for a 40 something, you gotta give it to her, she's pretty much in shape... that is a lot more than Barney dancing.

So, how come they didn't mention that you said she's still in shape despite her age? And compared to Barney??

I just wouldn't expect a big newspaper like themselves to trawl forums to get quotes for an article.

Maybe he just meant he's a Dumbass, and co-incidentally a friend of Dorothy, as opposed to their being some causal relationship twixed the two states of being.

I'd eat your meatballs Jeff. As long as I was allowed to cook them and add plenty of chili peppers, enrich the sauce, serve with paprika rice and serve with either a good wine or some very cold beers.

You might end up missing your meatballs though...

Don't worry about it.

Anyone spouting poofhate using a computer is just proving there's a few double entries in their family tree.

NEWSFLASH: The modern programmable computer is pretty much the invention of one Alan Turing, head of extreme cleverness at the Bletchley Park codebreaking facility during WWII, and renowned uphill gardener.

Don't like pooves? fine, turn yer PC off and give us some peace.

And while I'm at it, just in case some ragingly repressed homophobe leaps in here with "It's unnatural", that's an argument that holds water for exactly as long as it takes to look at any other random species on the Earth.

Nice quote Nic....:spit:

Great to see the journalists were able to sum all your intellectual thoughts so well in one quote.

Just another reason to hate journalists I suppose.
