Re-Order Viking Club Corby 3/8/07 Roll Call

I'm a definite no, sorry Shug. I'm at least a week away from going anywhere unfortunately. Hopefully there will be some kind of Viking imbibing going on in London in the next month.

I'm deffo going .Snorri very kindly is giving me a lift.Got to sort a hotel out yet but had a thought today that i may as well just pay for a taxi back to Rugby at the end of the night.Would cost maybe £40 but that's still cheaper than a hotel and i wouldn't have to negotiate buses and trains home with a hangover on Saturday.Think me and the Snorri will be there around 6pm

I just got a quote from a cab firm and you are talking nearer £80 after 23.00 Johnny. We can always organize a bit of a whip round to help towards the fare though mate. Alternatively, and i don't wish to be cheeky here, but maybe Monty and Jemma could drop you on their way back home oop north on the Saturday as Shug says there's a couch going at his.

Thanks John, um , just tried some cheap B&B'S .£15 but she had no rooms , one in Stephensons Way , not too far from Viking way.Fcuk it i'll just see what happens tomorrow night - if there's a roof to sleep under available or whatever cheers!! I'll hopefully be pissed out me head and will crasj anywhere - under a tree , a bush or a kitchen floor.Cheers!

Corby A depressing series of roundabouts links an A road. Surrounding the road is a dismal mid 1970s shopping centre from the fuck you school of architecture. The only saving race of this windowless concrete block is that that is melts into the slate grey skies that Corby always seems to have and almost disappears. Along the A road is a sprawl of Eastern European looking housing estates.

Corby still makes steel but not as much as it used to. A few years back British Steel conned a lot Scots from Ravenscraig to come down and make steel as their own works were to be closed. This was another false dawn and with their resulting redundancy money many set up taxicab firms presumably specialising on finding ways out of Corby. Thus you see no buses. And you are constantly being cut up by other drivers.

As an Ex-Corby resident (26 fookin years- born and raised) I concur.

But Steel making- No. Tubeworks might barely still be alive but there's been no steel made in Corby since 1979.

A brilliant night. Well done to Shug and John for organising it.

The band were superb overcoming all the etchnical problems, including a blown bass amp, to produce the goods again.

Good to catch up with all the regulars again - you will no doubt get all the war stories from the frontline as soon as they have sobered up.

Interesting venue. I half expected to see Peter Kay appear in a wheelchair at any moment. Still, at least the car was still there when I got back to it - with the correct number of wheels!

I think I did a Peter Kay and skided across the dancefloor on my knees,ripping a hole in my jeans and taking the skin off my knee.

Thanks to Shug for inviting us all back to his gaff for drinks and hot pot (love). And a big to Jemmie for brill day and night.Four hours in traffic doing a New Order karaoke.
