Sad though it is have to admit I was recently looking for info on NO fonts, 'cos I started making sleeves for my bootlegs (most of them pre-Get Ready are downloadable from Saville's own site). But all I could find on this one is that its by 'Paul Barnes', some graphic designer. Also the one on WFTSC actually costs money to download, sod that(despite being 50 years old, don't fonts ever go out of copyright?)

Also, searching for Saville related info does turn up some essays of staggering pretentiousness (e.g. Saville and this Barnes fellow banging on about their 'branding' exercise for Kate Moss, choosing just the right font to fit her image - for God's sake, just use a pic of a big pile of coke and have done with it). Makes one half agree with the Gallagher brother (can't be bothered distinguishing between them) who slagged off Factory as being 'full of the dodgy types who watch subtitled movies'. I mean honestly, his stuff nicely complemented NO's music, but its not 'art', its just a few half-decent ideas and some common sense.

Thank you for the information!

I liked this font very much and I've never seen it before. I'm a graphic design student and I know how hard is to design a good font: readable, complete(some designers ignores characters of some languages, like portuguese) and types visually coherent between them. I also know how important is the typography in a graphic piece but, unfortunally not everyone understand and it...

The authors deserve to be well paid for their works :thumb:

And sorry for my english...

i think Bill Holding (a fellow NOOLer who worked with saville on the cover for Sinlges) said the font is a one off, not available normally but there are similar around, which you could "pinch" a bit to make it look almost the same. If Bill sees this I'm sure He'll let you know.

there a quite a few here:

which was posted on here earlier in the week.

Just ask Bill Holding, he's a member here...

Since he designed it, I guess he knows ;)

Sorry for reviving this thread, but I just discovered that it is Paul Barnes who did the lettering for this album.

None of the above are credited on the 12 x 12 releases, which suggests to me that they were used without anyone's consent.

That would explain why the covers look so crap then!

No, the company that did it had the ok from Warner, but when Saville & Wakefield saw they used the wrong font (Bill Holding as well), they were pissed...

Somebody approved that at Warner and it didn't please the graphists at all.
