I have to say to start with that WFTSC and Get Ready are my least favourite New Order albums.
This got me wondering - with Hooky saying that all contact with Barny has been done via the Management Agency recently - did they actually work "together" in the studios on these albums? Maybe they just turned up and recorded their respective parts separately - does anyone know?
All the preliminary promotion interviews and such clearly stated that Get Ready was a group effort and WFTSC was too, albeit to a lesser degree. As a group they seemed all really behind WFTSC when it was released, no qualifications, but then things went pear shaped.

Well, that would technically be 'apple shaped'. Women go pear-shaped, men go apple-shaped, which is worse 'cos it increases your heart attack risk more. So really, I think it would be fair to say at this point that its all gone apple-shaped.

Well, considering the story on "Dracula's Castle", I'm pretty sure they were!
I still can't believe anybody would pick Movement and PCL over Get Ready and WTFTSC, but that's just me I guess.

Dracula's Castle is the studio where they recorded the album.
Don't remember the real mansion name.
Ah ok.
I was expecting a different long story. Something with a protagonist and an antagonist and a conflict and a theme and a climax, etc.

You would pick Get Ready and WFTSC over Power Corruption and Lies? Seriously?!
I will admit that Movement is not the bands best work but it still probably edges out Get Ready and WFTSC.
PCL on the other hand is in a different league - personally I find PCL to be New Order's best album. I like very track on PCL (even the slightly weird bits in 586). It's a close run thing for me but I prefer PCL over Technique (just).
Power, Corruption, and Lies is timeless and the band is very creative and original at this point. WFTSC does not compare.
P,C&L is lackluster for me. Granted I love the album, but the recording and voice of Barney leaves room for something more desired. Great songs, and I think that many of them were pulled off WAY better in the rerecordings on Substance. Though I like the naive feeling of the album, Get Ready and WFTSC edge out P,C,&L. They sound like a matured band comfortable in they're sound, PC&L they still did not have their direction focused....

Yup, PCL has 3 wonderful tracks, I admit it, but the rest is shit to me.
With Low-Life, New Order reached the maturity of having a full album of good songs. (Maybe it's because they decided to release singles from album though 
)
Sure, if you put Temptation and EGG on PCL, it changes the whole thing.

I think it was a management/Factory Records decision. It was for survival, otherwise their albums wont sell that much if there are no singles in it. I think that the idea of albums without singles is part of their 'uniqueness' as New Order.
They started releasing albums with singles in them since Low-Life, but then, they still released singles that did not appear on albums (i.e. SOTN, TBTHOG, etc.). It was not until Technique that all future singles are also album tracks, with the exception of World In Motion and Here To Stay.
These are just my opinion. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I think the band worked in their usual way, jam a few bits as a band, work on the parts on your own, get back together, glue it all together, repeat, when everyone is either fed up or pleased with it, it's done, rehears and record in a real studio.
Apparently on WFTSC (waiting for the solicitors call!) Barney took tracks home to make them more dancey! probably the only one who could use reason.
as what i've been saying, it's a management/Factory Records decision to include singles in albums for their survival for their albums to sell. To have no singles on their albums is part of New Order's 'uniqueness.' Just look what would happen if they continued with their 'uniqueness' and we deleted the singles:
Low-Life - 6 tracks Brotherhood - 8 tracks Technique - 6 tracks Republic - 7 tracks Get Ready - 7 tracks WFTSC - 7 tracks
most of them might be EPs. of course, they have other tracks/songs during recordings that they recorded but decided not to release so. these mystery songs could've been the fillers to make it an album. But the question is... would you buy/like these albums without singles? As a NO fans like us, of course yes, but how about for the other people?
And if that would be the case PCL would have been their best studio album, ever!
