Is it too much to ask for to give this story a proper ending?

One last New Order gig, with Gillian, with Hooky, in memory of Tony Wilson.

Yes, it's romantic, yes it's a bit Hollywood, but I'm guessing that many NOOLers are of an age where we're seeing those near and dear either pass away, become ill, or just lose their dignity. When it's happening in microcosm to the band of your youth, it's a bit of a pain in the arse. It needn't be this way.

One last New Order gig, an official farewell, and then a process of actually treating their back catalogue with ther care and attention that would make Tony proud, instead of the endless fuckwittery we've had to put up with over the last few years. PFD, Academy, Glasgow, BBC performances et al given an official DVD release, remasters of the albums with rarities.

If Depeche Mode, the Cure and the Pet Shop Boys can do it....

You're gonna lose gravitas to your argument with that line right there!

Nice idea, but bit of a Kneejerk Reaction as this stage, no? No reason why New Order should do one last gig for Tony, as much as we might want them to. Not like they did one last gig for Gretton, is it, which would've added much more value at that time.

I can't see it happening.

It won't. Bernard's views were made rather clear on Republic, and he doesn't seem to be the sort who is healed by time.

That said, Hooky would probably want to do it now as Bernard wouldn't! :evil4:

I'm confused...does he mean DM, the Cure and PSBs are gonna do a tribute gig for Tony???

Fair point, but now that Wilson's gone (still sounds strange doesn't it), that's it.

Curtis Hannett Erasmus Gretton Wilson

Next it'll be the band - given their lifestyles in the past.

Yeah, it's romantic, it'll probably never happen, but we can all but wish.

As for the bands I listed...

My very point is that New Order were before those the fuckers, the original model, but have been left behind in terms of their back catalogue policy. Check out those Centredate reissues (Lowlife typeface!!!)

reports of Alan Erasmus' death are greatly exaggerated.

Nah, I disagree to it. I mean, one final New Order gig? It would be just too emotional. I mean, you will see fans crying, and the band too. Then they (New Order) would realize that they're making their fans cry, and then, reunite, for their die hard fans.

On second thought, that looks like an AWESOME idea!

Indeed*!*

Erm...why would the fans be crying??? this isn't Duran Du-fucking-ran we're talking about here...

If you told me that it was the LAST New order show ever, I'd go to meet up with all the usual suspects...get drunk....maybe lose a rucksack...then sod off back to the States...

tears my fucking arse...what a bunch of girls we have posting on the site...

Hey come on!

I'm just trying to get New Order's mercy. Who knows, it might work.Evil laugh

Indeed!

oh...I see...I'm sorry...

let me rethink this...

the tears would flow freely, as Bernard and Hooky would fall into each others arms and share a moment more tender than that of any of the greatest love stories ever....and to end it all, 20,000 people would cram on the stage to sing Louie Louie, then we would all leave contented...world hunger would suddenly end...war would stop...

yes, yes, it would be quite awesome...

It wouldnt be too romantic or hollywood.....just a gang of his talented friends playing a gig in his memory and us lot getting pissed and having a ball.

All proceeds to either his family or the obvious charitable cause.

The cities in the park gig for Martin Hannett in 91 was far from maudlin or over emotional...it was a top laugh especially when Jeremy from ACR got everyone to blow their day-glo whistles for Martin.

It doesnt have to be billed as a New Order farewell....just a gig for Wilson.

There are shitloads of factory artists still active and playing gigs.....NO-one has any excuse not to play a gig for AHW......they should want to.

Its a few tunes banged out in a field/venue for a friend..... make it happen.

it should not take 'ONE' person to realize things and get back together. if the band, wants to get back together, it should NOT be done on one's sake! that's idiotic and even more pathetic.
