It's the Essential Mix, a slot which have been running for nigh on 15 years now. I know a lot of people here (Leggy, Nicos, Welshcake to name a few) are all big fans of the format.

Can't imagine what this one will be like? Didn't Tong say he was doing it himself? Not sure how Joy Division will fit into said mix and am sure they'll swerve more towards songs associated with the Hac, and not Factory per se, and use obvious 'Manchester' dance acts like Gerald and 808.

Could be interesting though.

mr tong has just had a phone interviw with a "peter hook ",bass player with new order! confirming his gig at sankeys at the w/e as a tribute to tony who he described as a father figure, and realises how much he needs him, adding the heady years of the hac were licensed madness. pete tong confirmed the essential mix would be one hour dedicated to factory and an hour of the hac put together by mike pickering,, good call.

as the phone call finished tong played a mix of electronics getting away with it, , with the refrain,, i love you more than you love me.

it so goes

Your copyright existed the moment you hit "post".

Here, it's a bit fuckin good this essential mix isn't it?

Tong has clearly become a ProTools Jedi while I wasn't looking and Mike P seems to have either gone mental or just got into the spirit of things and necked a 1990's worth of class A's.

I'm enjoying it so far... although True Faith never sounds that good unless it's the original... in my opinion!

A great mix, ruined by the "You're listening to Radio One essential mix" spoken over the top :nonono: gits.

Killer delivery of those in that order.

Otis. Vinni Reilly. FAC 234 Summer '88.

The Guitar and Other Machines also had it. AHW, 'It's Good Music to chill out to. Great BBC tribute.

Intelligently done by Tong. Thought he was gonna fade out Vini early but he brought in Confusion at just the right time and kept Otis going over the top of it for an age. Lovely stuff.

Will doubtless play the 2nd hour many more times that the first but the Factory hour was still a lovely job.

Excellent! Not sure I can work out how to save it though :\ohwell:

Completely changed Otis in my eyes. Its become something you'd hear at 7am in Ibiza, sounded so different, stunning.

Watching the ITV show about him last night was the first time i actually felt myself welling up about his death.

listening to this now, really good-thanks for the link

Yeah Otis into Confusion was top work:clap: Talking of which , wasn't there a dance track a while back that sampled that song? Vini's superb guitar work over a dance beat?

I've got a taste for these now. JD being mixed into ACR being mixed again into Durutti Column! Nice break from the norm from yer regular mix CD's.

Anyone else fancy knocking up a Factory-only mix to rival Tong's? Come on, I know there's plenty of proto-mixmeisters reading these boards!

Where's £50 Note when you need him?!

Yeah, I did read through the thread but I can't download stuff... No internet at home.

Unless I missed a vital point- highly likely
