the problem with forums

after reading recent posts regarding certain peoples identities and a post about threatening emails.. i,ve drawn the conclusion that some people might not be as genuine as they claim to be, this is the main problem with chatrooms and forums etc, unless you meet each other (and its obvious a lot of you have) then you have no way of knowing who these people are, most people are genuine and are using this site for the right reasons but i think its safe to say some arent.. i would urge you all not to give to much personal info out on these posts, you can always email the members you know and trust.. this is why i aint filled all my profile in, if one day i wanna meet up , say at a gig then i would.. i mean who'd call their kid SEYMOUR COCKS? serously though enjoy it but dont get taken in

Well, one of the conditions of joining is providing a genuine name on your profile, so it sounds like you yourself are one of the people you are moaning about?

it's quite understandable why one would want to be rather careful about the information they post here. i too believe that most of the people here are genuine, but there are always a few baddies in every bunch...that have to go and ruin things. good of you to warn others in case they hadn't thought about it, HW!

and hope you got that issue with the nasty e-mails all taken care of, Muffy...that's really terrible. :( i had a run-in with someone in a similar fashion not too long ago, also due to info from this site. it was more stupid than anything...

i love forums! its just like talking to my imaginary friends, but with more typing. its more fun being ignored by a machine than by actual humans.
