with 80's slap faced jazz Funkateer and Level 42er Mark King.

King was reportedly delighted at being asked to join after the recent departure of DJ Peter "Hook" Hooky.

"I'm really looking forward to using this famous thumb of mine on hits such as Blue Monday, Regret and Get the message" the absolute funker was quoted as saying.

The band are also rumoured to be reworking their Joy Division hit "Atmosphere" into a more slap bass driven vehicle to show off their new basists talents.

DJ Peter Hook was unavailable for comment but we reckon give his myspace half an hour and they'll be somert on there.

If that was to happen, I'd need headphones (the noise cancelling kind) to drown out Mark King... :dead:

Isn't he related to you?

Why would NO replace Hooky with anyone?

They did perfectly well without him on Republic.

MONACO REFORM SHELVED as NEW NEW ORDER WAR with LEVEL 42 gathers momentum.

Ex New Order Basser DJ Peter "Hooky" Hook has shocked everyone in rockdom by joining 80's Pop Funk Ups Level 42.

Ironically not revealing anything on his myspace site... Captain Hook declared an appreciation for "the 42" that had been growing for quite some time and wasn't in any way a reaction to Slap faced Les Dawson-a-like Mark King's decision to join his old bandmates.

DJ Hooky goes on to say "They're a bit like ACR but shit... a bit softer with a toasty funk underside. I reckon my bone breakin bass riffs will sheath their wine bar rhythms and as I remember "Something about you" was a massive Hac tune back in the day."

Be interested to hear Bernard and Mark King doing a slap bass duet on a new version of Confusion. (That was Bernard on slap bass duties on Confusion in the Pumped Full of Drugs video, right?)
