There is a good double page spread in it today about Control with lots of quotes from the boys. It finishes up with the interviewer asking Hooky if the film affected him and he replies

"Yes, definatley. It made me sadder that New Order have split. Since Bernard and I started slagging each other off publicly, we have met up to sort it out. But we had another huge fucking row and called each other bastards. Like Joy Division, New Order is over."

and no, i didn't buy the rag.

Several of the quotes are lifted from other interviews, notably the recent BBC4 documentary.

That's journalism nowadays - watching the telly and passing what you see off as your own exclusive. Probably making a few things up along the way doesn't hurt. Especially if you're the Sun, which no one believes anyway.

Sad that they're back to calling one another bastards though. I thought they'd have come up with something a bit more original than that after all this time.

Hello and especially to BIGINOIL I did that interview in The Sun and sorry to disappoint but it was a real interview. As if anyone else but people as close as they were to Ian could come up with such heartfelt quotes. Dream them up? What an insult

It's such a cliche to slag off The Sun, come up with somert original. Don't care what you say re the paper but we have a damn good music section on Fridays. Recent interview inc White Stripes, PJ Harvey, Iggy Pop, Weller. Why on earth would we 'make it up' with all these? Never heard of getting sued?

anyway thanks for the nice comments from the others. I am a massive NO/JD fan, LOVE the film and hope there's more music in the future x

Flicked though it at work today JS and it did seem like a decent review / interview, so decent work fella.

However I think that the behaviour of the 'rag' in the past has left a nasty taste in the mouth for thousands, especially those from the former Lancashire county of Merseyside. Quite rightly too. I'm sure the Friday section is a good piece but the sooner you get off it and move on to bigger and better things the better.

PS There is 'no love lost' between me and certain members of the Liverpool following over the years.

Is that what THE SUN SAYS?

Or a personal viewpoint?

OK perhaps you talked to Hooky and Stephen, but the Barney quotes seem to come directly from the BBC doc on BBC4, as pointed out by BIGINOIL. If you actually spoke to Barney, then please expand.

Better English would be appropriate, considering you are supposed to be a journalist.

Please do not pass off justified distain for cliche.

We know the difference, even if you choose to ignore it.

It's certainly true that the NO and Factory lot have been repeating themselves quite a lot recently. But that Barney quote was word-for-word the same as the FAC Documentary. He needs an autocue to remember the words to his own songs, so unlikely he managed to repeat himself so perfectly in your exclusive interview.

How dare you come on here and accuse me of making clichéd comments? The Sun itself is a cliché. I wouldn't wipe my arse with it. If there's the odd decent article (and I'll admit that your one pisses on most things you see in the NME these days) The Sun is still a totally rotten work of shit and you should be ashamed of yourself for your association with it. It's not even a proper newspaper, it should be on the same shelf as the comics.

Still, keep up the good work and send your cv to the proper papers and you never know :thumb:

Even over here we know of the Sun as a worthless rag. With that being considered, these things don't come about by themselves. The Sun earned that title. My suggestion is to start writing for a more credible paper...your article deserves better.

They put a few words in italics for the benefit of readers who only have time to read 20 words in their lunch break.

I missed this article as i have been away.Did they put a picture montage to explain how Barney uses his autocue? I'm always grateful for the way The Sun explains things with cartoon pictures.I'd be completely in the dark about what actually happened if it wasn't for their very helpful illustrations.

Well at least the git in question has not attempted to repeat their lie. Gone off to hide and dream of an upgrade to the Dail Mail.

If the Sun still exists, it's needed by a lot of people. So slagg off the half of Great Britain then.

I'd stick to the Daily Potato Distiller if I were you, you clearly aren't all that switched on about what The Sun is (and crucially isn't).

I must have missed something here. I can only recall slagging from Hooky's side, none from the other
