Hi, can anyone identify the ethereal sound at the back of the mix of Disorder from JD's Unknown Pleasures?

Can you be more specific, than just ethereal?

you are refering to the "whoosh" sound eh?

its a recording of a redi-whip can dispensing whipped cream played backwards at 160 bpm.

or

its Martin Hannetts private reel of recorded silence amplified, big time.

those were always my best two guesses.

There are some distant short siren sounds too. Think it's the digital delay manipulating the chorus on Barney's amp or a synth of some kind.

it's probably a heavily effected synth replicating that 'siren' sound they used live in the early days when playing Disorder.
