With all this hype over Control...

who's betting 24HPP will be reissued on DVD with more features? I think the 2 disc version's been out of print for a while now. Maybe they'll put a documentary on about Wilson?

Yeah, it's in total obscurity over here. It will be showing during the Festival du nouveau cinéma, I'll try to go to one of the showings.

Just come back from the cinema in Surrey Quays. I enjoyed the movie. I have learnt things from it I wasn't previously aware of, despite reading Deborah's book when it was first released. As the film has both Deborah and Natalie's blessings, along with New Order I can only conclude that nothing but nothing was ever going to save Ian.

I used to blame Annike, but not any longer, she wasn't the catalyst, but just a little side number. Like what Ian said towards the end of the film. He didn't want the fame and trappings of a rock star. All he wanted was Unknown Pleasures to be Known Pleasures. He got that but sadly didn't want anymore.

Certainly he was a shy chap, Sam Riley comes over as an excellent Ian. Ian had his demons, life just added to them.

Also would like to say, the actor who played Rob Grettan was so amazingly like Rob himself that it felt he was back from the grave.

Antony H Wilson would have been proud as well. A much better performance than Coogan anyday.

Here's looking forward to the 3rd film.

didnt really like hearing someone saysomewhere they didnt want peeps seeing in to something so personal,a film being madeabout their life.well then it shouldnt have beenmade. and yeah some peeps cant be saved.

Might be obscure now in north america, but it will eventually find an audience on DVD at least. Control's sitting at 97% positive with 30 reviews (on Rotten Tomatoes) so it couldn't be more critically praised.

Like 24PP, nobody had heard of it when it was briefly in theatres, but now everyone knows it. If it's good enough it will find an audience.

Well, in the La Presse of this past Saturday, there was a booklet of the 36e Festival du nouveau cinéma and in it, there's a complete schedule of all the movies that will be showing. When I saw that booklet, I immediately looked for Control and sure enough, I saw a picture of Sam Riley as Ian Curtis.

For those interested, Control's showings are:

Oct. 18 - 13h15 at Cinéma Impérial Oct. 19 - 21h30 at Ex-Centris Cassavetes Oct. 20 - 15h15 at Ex-Centris Fellini
