Joy Division are Everywhere!!

I found this on the web site of "The Los Angeles Times"

I recall thinking at the height of Kurt Cobain mania ,around 1994, that one day Ian would be bigger .Maybe he is now although i wish the film had been made back then (early 90s). Or maybe 1987 - that was the peak of my Joy Division listening/obsession.I don't give so much of a fcuk these days .

it's become almost impossible to turn on modern-rock radio without registering the sonic debt owed Joy Division by a who's who of buzz bands -- most notably, the Killers, She Wants Revenge, Interpol, Bloc Party, the National and Moving Units.

It always amazed me that such a great band can inspire such crap. Interpol started off with potential but went into decline with each release. Ikon are doing it right, but how many people have heard of them?

It's cool to like Joy Division.. it always has been. Can't wait to see Joy Division baby tee's on sale at the mall's Hot Topic store and frenetic dancing made hip by Sam Riley.

Good find Ed, I somehow missed that article Sunday. One of these days, I need to scan the LA Times/Calendar article (a full page) just before New Order made their California debut way back when ( don't mind admitting I stole it from the paper at the library; I knew there'd never be another JD fan in Albany, and I couldn't just let that article wind up in the recycling bin).

If that lot were "inspired" by Joy Division then that's a different meaning of the word than the one I understand.

They have nothing, nothing in common.
