I have finally heard Shadowplay by The Killers.

Holy fuck, is it crap. I mean, there are elements of it I enjoyed. But shit. He sings out of tune for the first verse, the "ooh ooh ooh" parts are completely pointless, and the song itself just feels unfinished and very underproduced.

Considering I enjoyed Hot Fuss, I don't hate the Killers (though their latest album wasn't worth the $5 I payed for it). But what a horrid cover. Anyways, I'm done.

Really spolit the film for me... Given the amount of effort that went in to getting the music in the film right, it just seems sloppy and tacky to have the cover over the end credits, especially as it follows Atmosphere, which was a good way I thought to end it - a bit happy, a lot sad, focus on Ian, etc. Mind you it's probably quite apt that something so inherently about JD/NO/Factory should end up being fcuked up like that... :banghead: Rant over... :D

I'm just annoyed that The Killers didn't put more time into making the song sound.. Well, complete.

I still haven't heard the cover yet. I'll keep my mind open on this one.

it sounds like The Killers to me. Which is$ to say - not bad, just not as good as Joy Division. Nowhere near as good as JD.

I think that the most suitable cover that should have been played during the end credit is the song that is neither too sad nor happy and which to me represents something new ahead and that cover should have been New Order's "Ceremony". That song would have been just right.

Especially since it's a sort of transitions song from JD to No. Tops right Ceremony.

A few years from now, people will look at their record collections, look at their Killers' CDs, and think "what the f#ck". Possibly one of the most overrated, overhyped bands of recent times.

They're certainly less than the sum of their parts. It's a strange version of Shadowplay alright but then I'd got totally used to the immaculate JD version. You're right, Atmosphere can't really be followed by anything but then there were several more minutes of credits scrolling and I suppose Anton didn't fancy silence!

Ps I thought the riot happened at the Bury gig but was it Derby? Are we reading too much significance into the 501 equipment box in the aftermath of the riot?

At least it was at the end credits. I had visions of it being during the film, which would of ruined it for me...

Anyway I thought the film was amazing, couldn't of asked for more, well done Anton...
