Wow! 18 songs, it must have been the longest set New Order did so far. Have they played "Rock The Shack"? I'm asking this because in "the other site" this song is not listed in the setlist.

well, no major surprises then...what was the story behind "we're going to play two separate sets, one with some Joy Division stuff and one with New Order material"...

by the way...no "Here To Stay" ???

cheers :guitar:

...and now some comments from those who weren't in Paris. How was "Brutal"? "She's Lost Control"? "Digital"?

I'm really curious!

i,m not a big fan of "brutal" (probably aint erd it enough) but "shes lost control" and "digital" were brilliant, "digital" was one of the highlights of the set for me..

Firstly, I don't know if Al arranged it or not, but a good choice of pub beforehand and great to put faces to some of the names you so often see on NOOL. I may not post that often, but I read the others a lot!

The good parts for me were that it didn't rain during New Order (though it pelted down during Air's set, which is the sort of music more conducive to nice warm days!), but the mud was like the Neil Young show I went to almost a year ago at Finsbury (and I can speak about Neil Young without worry as Barney chose Cortez the Killer as a favourite song when they were on John Peel!).

The band definitely seem to be enjoying themselves these days, loads more banter, some of it quite funny, especially when Barney took full credit for Temptation and the others started to walk off. Hooky's bass stacks had Bye Bye Dee Dee on them and he dedicated Ceremony to him as well.

Good to hear She's Lost Control, although it's not really 25 years since they last did it as I remember a performance of it in Slough in 85! Great to hear Digital, and Brutal not bad either.

The real disappointment is that with such a great back catalogue of songs to choose from they stuck to basically the same set from October. NOTHING from Low Life, Movement or Technique, only one each from Brotherhood, PC&L and Republic. It seems really unlikely now, but it would be great to hear Perfect Kiss, Leave Me Alone or Age of Consent again.

Oh well - never happy am I?!!

On the concert front - have to say I thought they were fookin great, but then again - I always come out thinking they were great;) Well fooked off they never played Rock The Shack - and got treated to THAT song:evil4: Barney & Hooky were on great form chatting to the crowd inbetween songs, and other than getting the fuck kicked out of us (which is always enjoyable;) ) I don't think Jeff the Chef knew what the fuck was going on:D Danced about a bit with ID (if you call jumping up and down like a mad eedgit dancing) right down the front in between Barney & Hooky - also caught a glimpse of Big Jarvo's Bonce - although with all the noise he never heard us shouting:lol: Some poor wee girl got crushed in front of us - so myself and the mad texan decided to get a beer and watch from the side fer the last few songs (and the word ye's are looking for is a pair of Jessies;) ) thoroughly enjoyed myself - can't wait fer Manchester!

oops nearly forgot - Digital was magic - and how I wished I was John Simm when he got ushered onto the stage....bastard:lol: She's lost control and Brutal were great to hear as well:nod: When are we gonna hear "Here To Stay"? and AOC, and Sunrise and.........:D

I really enjoyed Brutal too. A longer version I'd say than the Beach version. Nice guitar work from Mr C! Thought the Barnster was a tad lazy with his axe on Tooth-Ache though!!!

Just want to say top-marks to the guy down the front who knocked me out with one punch. Now THAT truly was a first! Pity he had to wait 'til I had turned away before he did it...

I loved meeting up with the people from this board - especially SHUG & Major who provided a fair amount of entertainment throughout the day; funny guys. It's always a total pleasure meeting Al & Paula who I genuinely regard as friends despite only ever meeting through gigs. Good to see Mark Rutter showing me such decency all things considered and Dave Hibell continues to prove he's a real gentleman. The beautiful people; Muffy, Liv T. & the latest recruit Anne M. had me in tears for hours - even getting knocked out (during the second fucking song!) didn't do anything to detract from the fun.

You were right about W.I.M. I-D. Although that decision was made AFTER the football on friday as the band hadn't bothered rehearsing the song - indeed Barney didn't even rehearse with the band on the Thursday prior to the Finsbury gig at all.

Not so full of myself after all am I?

Hey you all!! Back in Holland again....

Had a bet with the Sloppy one..... :D

He was shure that World in Motion would not be played.

Ha ha, I said, Ingerland winning 1-0... (no 7!!!!!!), they will never ever consider NOT playing World in Motion.

And you all know the result!

Cheers!

Seems like the guys didn't do the full set after all.

Sorry I didn't update the site yet, I'm having soooooo much trouble with my internet connection these days, it's slow as hell.

A technician will come next wednesday, 'til then, farewell, I leave you in the hands of the other webmaster!

I've got a recording of the Paris gig that I can tape for you.

I'm afraid I can't burn it onto a CD as I don't have the technology but mail me if you're interested.
