Heard it on a YouTube Video of the band performing in an award ceremony. And, I must say, I love the song!
Killer's Cover of Shadowplay

Why do some people hate the cover? I mean, it's very different from what JD did. Although I have to be frank, Brandon Flowers' singing is way better than present day Barney. I told you that I'll keep an open mind about the cover.

Flowers better than present-day Bernard? No. No. No. I can't stress it enough.
I wish Spandau Ballet could have reformed and covered this song instead. I mean, there's not much to tell between the vocals of Tony Hadley and Brandon Flowers - both of them have annoying foghorn voices. Why can't the Killers just go away and do a Queen cover instead?

Flame me all you like, ye of little imagination, but this Killers version takes a well-known riff and gives it an extra dimension, and adds something to the song. I do wish he'd managed to get the words right, I always hate that when a vocalist feels the need to change the words to a recorded cover (yes you Moby you cock), but the version is great as far as I am concerned (and I didn't want to like it!!).
Seconded - I'm not a Killers fan, but it's a great track. I was expecting it to be garbage, but it's well produced and adds a lot of dimension to the skeletal instrumentaion of the original.

Ditto. I was giving the Killers the benefit of the doubt (partly because I actually like their first album) until I actually heard it. Total crap.

:)
Still waiting for Ian's opinion, mind...... ![]()
I love it!![]()
It is currently number 2 in a local rock station's countdown here in Manila.
Indeed*!*
I like it. It wasn't one of my favourite Joy Division songs to begin with so I didn't have the highest of expectations. With that, I was surprised how much I enjoyed The Killers cover.
I think some people here though may have hated it before they heard it, if you know what I mean.

I do. That's my problem with most JD/NO fans.

Yes, how dare they put a cover song that they did on a b sides and covers album. What a complete disgrace that is. The biggest crime in the history of the business.
