It happened to Hilary Swank, so it could happen.

But again, this depends of how the production company send the movie to the MPAA so it can be considered.

won't it be one of those Oscars that gets presented before the main ceremony. coz its made no money. then they catch up with all these minor awards, half way thru the show, in about 30 seconds, like the best Ugandan Silent Horror movie award. or best supporting bollywood actress. you wait.

He did a good job, but Oscars..? Who cares. The most Bullshitty award to be bestowed in America: the Land of Bullshit.

An unknown British actor in an arthouse movie up against the star of some big budget Hollywood indulgence? Call me cynical ...

But Samantha Morton for Best Supporting Actress would be a possibility as she has form.

Would you prefer he won a Genie?

What Jeff Black said is right....Control's profile will work against the film receiving any Oscar award. It's well suited for Cannes (B&W, arty) where 'film' is recognised, but the Oscars is too far up its own hoop to embrace or reward something like Control. I'd love to be proved wrong though, but I seriously can't see it.

Wonder who'd star in 'Division: The Story Of New Order'???

:brow: I agree with the previous comment. The Oscars are so over the top. I'll go see Control when it comes out on DVD, anyway, so who cares about Riley having a shot for an Oscar?

Hmmm...I would be happy if Sam is nominated for an Oscar or another award ceremony...He is a great actor and I personally hope we'll see him again. I love Sam! I'm one of his huge fans!:evil4:

I'd like him to get nominated for no reason other then Control getting a wider theatrical release. I'd love to see it in theatres, but I don't live in a big city :\ohwell:

I doubt the land of the rubbish Hollywood can even appreciate the film or the actors. :read:

Well, this movie WILL be considered ONLY because Samantha Morton is in it and she was already nominated for an oscar for In America.

So all people voting will remember that... and will watch the movie.

But as I said, it *did* happen in the past that an indie movie managed to get a nod for serious categories... like Boys Don't Cry fot Hilary Swank her first oscar.
