Not read Hooky's blogs over weekend, but I came across this in the Manchester Evening News...
"Former New Order bassist Peter Hook stopped a potential riot in an Italian nightclub by playing Blue Monday...on the orders of the police. Hooky was DJing at a club in Florence and was nearing the end of his set when truncheon-wielding police stormed into the club and warned him to stop the music.
Hooky says,"Some very disappointed people started throwing things at the police. Then everyone's flapping and I'm ducking but I've got too many CDs out to rush. Then the wonderful man with his 3ft long rubber truncheon looks at me,smiles, and says "Blue Monday".So I oblige"
The clubbers buoyed by the classic song soon forgot about rioting and quickly turned their attentions back to the business of dancing. The power of music eh? "
Must have been the CARIBINIERI mix!!!![]()
