What do you think of the 15 new songs now? At the beginning I found that 60mph and Turn my Way were amongst the best songs of the album. However, they didn't age well, and I find them quite boring now, while other songs like Close Range, Primary Concept and even Low-Speed Marmalade have been growing on me.
Nowhere Else to Stay is very good and I hope it will give them some inspiration for the future material.
The three B-sides are avery good also, and I rate BCD grade A.
Turn MY Way is still a classic....most of the rest is great. ROCKET EASILY PLEASED MICK The entire covers campaign has made me happy!
GR is up there with the best NO albums. It has everything. I thought that when I played it for the first time and I think the same now.
Here to State the Obvious is another classic track, it suited the film well and its association with it allows it to be more forgettable than other NO releases which remain timeless.
Behind A Closed Door is my least favourite. I do enjoy it, but find it difficult to listen to because of its odd structure. Sounds like a studio outtake to me ... which it probably is.
All in all NO back to full strength, which was a worry.
well, it's strange...but i find myself liking the b-sides more than the actual album. "Sabotage" is a fantastic song, also "Player in the League". The less mainstream material has more potential me thinks. But on the other hand i really do like the radio edit of "60 mph" and of course the best track on "Get Ready": "Primitive Notion".

My favourites still remain Crystal (the radio edit), Turn My Feet, Egg Range (though this doesn't work live) and Behind Closed Doors.
I really like Brutal now after being more than sceptical about it at the start.
HTS was very good as well, especially the Puddy Tat's remix.
Someone should remember to give them a tape of 5-8-6 before they start recording their new album.
Hey Mickey All the Way ... Free Range Egg Farm (Close Range) was one of the highlights on their tour last year for me. It was played well, sang well and the sounds was first rate.
Brittal Bones is also a decent effort, since this song was their first in almost 900 years. I dig the inclusion of mock-asian strings ... makes me think I'm actually sat watching The Bitch. Which reminds me, what a catastophically wank film. Worst moment - Leo De Cap on Wrong running through the soil with a stupid video game thing over his head.
I like the backing vocals on Brittle. It was great to zee Dawn again at the mudchute festival the other week.
Strangely, she was singing in Paris but I couldn't see her on stage.
She must of been behind the curtains, a la Morecombe and Wise, as my Mum said that New Order don't use tapes. ;)

Get Ready is a good album, better than most of the crap you can listen to the radio (at least here) these days.. but that's maybe because I'm getting old.
I still listen to it a lot, but I'm very sad that they didn't take the opportunity to have a big hit in North America by releasing Turn My Way, this is something I just don't get, Crystal went to #1 of the Billboard Dance Chart and they didn't even bother to release another single over here.
I can understand not releasing 60 Miles An Hour, I still think that was an error, there is better tracks on Get Ready, but I think Turn My Way, and the not-so-good-for-old-New-Order-fans Rock The Shack might have actually brought new fans to New Order, and they didn't bother to release those.
Maybe it was the deal with Billy Corgan, maybe not, but I just don't get how they can let this outstanding track on the album and not release it for the radio.. it's very rare that I love a song at first listening, this usually means it has hit potential because songs that you need 20 times to like don't play on the radio...!!
It's totally New Order.. let's do what we want, keep our loyal fans, we don't need more fans and touring more because we have a new hit single...
Indeed "TURN MY WAY" is an absolute classic song and the words mean so much to me personally.It would have made a brilliant single in USA.But there are so many tracks in the past that the group could have released as singles but due to other FACtors never did.That they can still produce such great music after ALL this time is a great achievement. When you say that the words for Turn My Way are very personal to you, are you referring to the bit about not washing your car or is there something else in the song that describes your life?
Yes i have decided not to work for a while after doing 24 years in the I.T BUSINESS and i have never owned a car due to younger days drinking habit.I have tried to live my life the alternate way when possible.Doing the opposite of others and never conforming.Does this remind you of anyone? FACTORY RECORDS etc.....Still i will have to get a job soon or else i will have nowhere to house my GREAT collection of the ORDER..371 items and counting. CHEERS ROCKET MICK

This is just another evidence of the punk-mancunian way of life I mentioned in another thread: do good things and then spoil them by a stupid "I-don't-care" attitude.

The Jessie! ... yes, the washing of a vehicle well and truly 'sucks' and, dare I say it, 'blows giant chunks' across the freeway! ... there has never been a more brilliant lyric than 'Turn My Feet'. I only wished he had gone one step further and sang 'I don't enjoy hoovering up the stairs either' which falls a close second to rubbing a soft sponge across metal for an hour.
It was good to hear you made it to the recent gig - I hope your stay in Eggland was a promising one full of dreams that will never subside.
Since you now ask: 9 months on, here's my verdict....
CRYSTAL- still pretty rocking really, but they HAVE done better songs than this... 60 MILES AN HOUR - unremarkable stodge with a cop-out chorus-for-the-masses TURN MY WAY - yeah, it's okay I spose, but never was afan of Billy Corkhill or his Scouse whining.... VICIOUS STEAK - I misspelt that deliberately cos I still hate that track PRIMITIVE NOTION - very Joy Div beginning, so that's good. SLOW JAM - Good intro, stadium stodge elsewhere ROCK THE SHACK - er, no thanks SOMEONE LIKE YOU - Oh, Jesus.... CLOSE RANGE - Should have been the second single actually RUN WILD - Oh, Christ..... BEHIND CLOSED DOORS - Yeah - and don't ever open them again, d'you hear?? SABOTAGE - Their best B-side of the bunch (I can even forgive the shrieking female backing vocals near the end!) PLAYER IN THE LEAGUE - Mmmmmm.... BRUTAL - Not half! HERE TO STAY - The ultimate "composite" New Order tune...pretty good though, and Top 20 too, remember! SUCH A GOOD THING - I've ceased to care, sorry...

why does everyone make a fuss over "turn my way"?! 
i thought along with "rock the shack" it was the joint worst song on get ready.
the lyrics are pretty lame and billy corgan's voice is awful and so boring..it lacks the one thing that makes most new order songs great: EMOTION!
notice the worst 2 tracks on the album are the ones where they have guest singers?
also, i think "behind closed doors" is pretty bad too.
"i check up on the scores, listen to the corrs"...that's really bad lyrics..even by barney's recent standards!
the best song off get ready is easily "primitive notion"..followed closely by "close range".
it's great to see barny & co. going back to their joy division roots. 
although my favourite get ready era track is "here to stay".
it's a masterpiece, best single since "regret".

Im a big fan of Get Ready. I still can't split my fav NO release between Get Ready and Brotherhood. There isn't one song on Get Ready that I don't like. Crystal and 60mph are amazing in my book and a big part of that are Hookys classic basslines in those songs ... Especially the beginning of 60m an hour.
Here to Stay is okay ... But not classic in my opinion ... Its all about the vocals in that song ... Nothing impressive about the music ...

I think the b-sides that came along with the album are great as well, and Here To Stay maybe wouldn't have complimented the album in the same way, to me it would take away that something that "Crystal" gave us;)
Still love it - obviously don't play it as often, and it's still my 2nd Fave New Order album behind Technickers
Actually I forgot to mention Someone Like You which is probably my favourite from this latest period.
The intro is magnificent. The whole 'atmosphere' of the song reminds me of Low-Life and songs like Sooner Than You Think which is one of my all time favourites of all time, so to speak.
I can't help feeling the record company missed an opportunity to actually get a decent mix of this out as a proper single, keeping the intro and Hooky's bass throughout and getting some additional keyboards high in the mix.
While painting the kitchen last week - I found myself dancing and singing on top of the step ladders while painting the ceiling - the song on the CD player at the time was SLY - caught me unaware it did - it's amazing how catchy that song actually is:)
I still enjoy the double PROMO i got for this at £6 was a snip.Still love the VINYL! ROCKET THERES NO ONE LIKE ME MICK...wot do u mean THANK GOD! :p

Have you got Audiogalaxy? I got all the versions of it from there;) Some cracking versions - I liked the "full vocal" version that much - I bought the record (said in that Remington advert style)
