"Joy Division biopic set for DVD release

Joy Division's Curtis was diagnosed with epilepsy in 1979 and prescribed medication. It was thought to have contributed to his depression and subsequent suicide.

'Control' out in early 2008

The Joy Division film 'Control' is set for release on DVD next year.

The biopic about the band’s frontman Ian Curtis is out on February 11.

The movie was directed by the band’s visual collaborator Anton Corbijn, who has also worked with the likes of U2 and Depeche Mode, and was based on the book ’Touching From A Distance’ by Curtis’ widow Deborah.

Along with the film starring Samantha Morton and former singer Sam Riley (pictured), the DVD release features extended scenes, a director's commentary, a making of film and Corbijn’s ’Atmosphere 88’ video among the extras. "

Why wait until Feb 08 when it is already available via P2P on the net. Than with a little help from dvdflick you have your own copy. Simple!!Well at least it was for me.

It's also a low budget film, so if you download it and don't buy a copy/get a ticket to see the film, low budget films don't get made...

i have a DIVX cut so the official DVD will be nice. i hope they release the hd-dvd at the same time so i don't have to buy two copies.

What about Amnerican release? I know for a fact that import movies have their titles altered in the States, so they would sell better. I don't know if this is going to be the case, specially since there's already a movie called Control released a few years ago.

Low-budget movies are made not for profit. Or if they are and still don't get any profit, that's how the industry works.

Nothing yet on Amazon.com (which does have it listed, but in theatrical release only) or Amazon.ca. I would highly doubt they would change the name. The movie was shown at the Toronto Film Festival and released as Control in North America. I'm sure it will be released--it will probably just lag the UK release slightly.

(Didn't look at the Amazon.uk listing to see whether it was an all region DVD or not--if it is, we can always just order it from the UK).
