Well as my end of the year special ill go through the end of my year!
Freebass comin along well still, had a very good meeting with our new manager, he also manages MUSE, and the lads, all very positive, we're just trying to find ways of making it work around our other commitments, just requires planning, but im sure that's what the actress said to the bishop,if you know what I mean?
Started my shopping, which went well, saw a few of my Christmas friends? its weird but its people I see, once a year, just at Christmas shopping? How odd! Never see them again til next year! Had an interesting interview with channel M pretendin it was christmas day, like youd go in there on xmas day? No offence , but does any one believe it? After that CLINT BOON had got me to let the XFM new talent winners , who bizarrely were doin a cover version of TRANSMISSION? Whatever happened to new music? I don't know. But anyway I let the bassplayer/singer, a dangerous combination which ive never liked, use my guitar , the Yamaha, they were a great bunch of kids, from jackx school funnily, I felt like father Christmas, sarge was laughin his head off! Nice version with an interesting vocal bit in the end, sorta middle eight which it didn't have, that's what I liked about joy div . the orders were a bit different, unintentionally, going to try and resurrect that with freebass. The drummer was very nervous, god bless him and there was a bizarre moment at the end when he came to say thanks, me an sarge watched him walk over, then the lights went out only for a second, when they came back on he'd disappeared? The poor bastard had fallen flat out over the monitor, don't know what hurt more his pride or his shins! Felt really sorry for him, but that's rock an roll kids! YOU HAVE TO LEARN THE HARD WAY, my advice is WATCH OUT FOR BUTTERFLY CATCHES TOO!
Next day , in my life of contrasts, was the school play excellently done, by all concerned , brought a tear to my eye again! Ah well, next time out flying to ZARAGOSA, long day had to drive to the pool, then easy jet, the least thankful for your custom of all the airlines!FLEW TO madrid, THEN A LOVELY? THREE AND A HALF HOUR DRIVE TO ZARAGOSA! Gorgeous place tho really old Spanish town, like palma,nice to be there but I was disappointed as id packed me shorts and it was bloody freezing! Great gig tho , bit unorganized , but im getting used to that,two good bands , the ones before me were like a Spanish cramps, don't know there name tho sorry! The other band were called BIZARRE LOVE TRIANGLE!IN SPANISH of course, they were ok quite heavy but ok. Finished at 5 knackered but happy,next day we had to leave at ten for the drive back to Madrid and then flite to Brussels, at least it was a little more int. in the light, driver was knackered too, he was the promoter, so had one eye on him and one on the desert!
BRUSSELS………….didnt know what this FACTORY night would bring, I arrived in a bloody awful hotel, best western? You must be jokin!IN the foyer is my old mate MARK REEDER from berlin, was lovely to see him and as things with n.o.hav been so awful, its nice to see people you love outside of it! HE HAD A LOVELY GERMAN LADY WHOD DONE A BOOK ABOUT IAN, IN SEARCH OF? QUITE STRANGE, BUT SAT THERE IN THAT HOTEL IN BRUSSELS SEEIN THOSE OLD PICTURES OF IAN WAS A REALLY STRANGE FEELIN, TOOK ME RITE BACK TO HOW SCARED AND EXC ITED WE WERE IN 1979 AT plan k, FOR OUR first European show.WOW!I was very nervous, but seein Kevin hewick, martin moscrop, annik, michel duval section 25, larry as mad as ever! In a sold out 2000venue was bizarre, the warm up guys played some really interesting stuff, and to play with the sections was great , my god this one was unorganized to tho, could have done with stuart james on the stage never mind behind it, jammer used to work for n.o. in our glory days , I saved his life you know! Ill tell you about it in the new order book………title suggestions?, ………….thinkin of letting david Nolan do it NOT!
