I have the NEW-ORDER-VIDEO that basically tells the story of New Order why and how. There is this part on the video of how they actually tell how they came up with BLUE MONDAY. Bernard is explaining how they sacrificed a sheep and then sold their souls to the devil and right after that soon enough; they got BLUE MONDAY. Their SMASH HIT that put NEW ORDER on the mainstream! I guess selling your soul pays off!
New Order sold their souls to the devil???

No wonder you got no replies, what are you going on about? And I suppose the grey dog symbolised the chair God Odin and a yamaha 6001-RTH51 synth was used on the third verse, note 8 etc etc bollox until I fall asleep.
Piss off.
Stephen's version of events went as follows:
'We were just mucking around with some of the new equipment we'd bought - drum machines, sequencers, etc and wondered what it could all do. We put together this track which was just a laugh really, then someone suggested we release it. We laughed, but it just shows how wrong you can be'.
Peter's version is:
'We wanted a track that would play the encore for us, so we could go off to get pissed. Blue Monday was the result'.'
So, choose which of these stories you'd prefer to believe (or any other!) The band are probably the only ones who know the whole truth.

Not sure Barney was being entirely serious about that one. Or is that just me?
Philip - I've got Barney Sumner on video introducing a song, saying 'This one's called my arseholes on fire' (which it wasn't). I think perhaps Adam is right and that they were having a laugh... I've seen the video too.
