well...I've been back home for about a week now, and I guess now I can tell all of you other NOOL's about the experience...

first off, London is a wonderful place...so much history, especially compared to Dallas, where we tear everything down after it's about 50 years old...

I'm not going to bore you with all the touristy things that I did...

The first person I ran into was Angie, since we were in the same hotel, but unfortunately, she had a bad experience with the place...

Now I shall just cut straight to Saturday...

there were several of us who were supposed to meet up for the Brazil game around noon on Saturday, but of course, I was running late...and didn't make it there until quite late in the game...

I met up with the Shugster, his mate Darrin, and Mark (Johnny Giles as we all know him)...we all had a few beers, and then proceeded to the arranged meeting at Chandos...now this place was actually quite decent...and the Shugster introduced me to extra strength lagers....and they were good...

I don't remember a whole lot about this place, except that the barkeep was a nice Scottish lassie, and the restrooms, or loos (forgive the spelling) were up a set of stairs...

I do recall meeting ID, ROCKET MICK and Jarvo (and his wife), and a couple of others whose names escape me...and taking loads of pictures...

but then, for some reason, my drunk ass decided to leave early, and when I say I was drunk...I mean, you could have set my hair on fire and I wouldn't have even noticed...

I thought I could find the tube station, but damn, I missed it by a mile or two...the next thing I remember, I'm leaning on a fence by the Thames, and I realize I no longer have my backpack, which had my money, my credit cards, my tube pass, and all of my picture ID....

oops...not a good thing at all...

I have enough money in my pockets to get a ticket back to the hotel, and decide to go home and pass out.

So Jeff wakes up the next morning, and realized just how screwed he is...but he still has a new order ticket, and damned if I'm going to let having no money and no tube ticket keep me from seeing the band...so I leave my hotel around noon...and finally get to Finsbury around 6 or 7...but I made it...that's all that really matters...

I meet Angie and her son and her friend at the front gate...but we soon lose touch...so I wait at the front gate...and run into Luis and his contingent...Luis tells me the rest of the gang is still at lands end...

so I wait some more...and finally I see Jarvo, and Johnny Giles, and the rest of the group showing up...

all I can tell you is there ain't a better group of folks for an American to experience a New Order gig with than all these cool cats...

I spent the entire night with the Shugster (massive shout out to my Scottish brother!!!!) and he made sure I got to the front and center to see what a proper concert is like!!!!

but he finally realized that I just couldn't hang, and got me off to the side...plus seeing that little girl getting trampled didn't hurt any either....

so after the show, we all meet up to the right side of the stage, and head out to Land's End, but they aren't letting anybody in, so we find another pub...and in this place...

well...I ain't going any further than to thank all of you that pitched in...that's all I'm saying....

even though I lost everything I had, this was still a wonderful gathering, and I hope to see all of you again...

so when do you cat's want to come to Dallas???

:p and :hi:

Nice post me ole mucker:thumb: Glad you had a good time - even though you lost some bits and pieces, and didn't I tell you that we were like one big happy family:D Hopefully you can make it over again, as fer my chances of coming to Dallas, there's more chance of Bobby Ewing being ressurected from his untimely death......er:evil4:

"oh dear, that means you are in a bit of trouble"

Thanks to the embassy staff, I never knew I was in any type of predicament....

I just wanted to mention a little about my experience in london. Fortunately, nothing bad happened to me. When I first heard that New Order was going to be playing in London, It sounded like a great place to go see them for the first time. So I went ahead a bought the tickets, the only thing to do was to convince my wife that london would be the perfect place to spend our honeymoon. When I brought up the idea, she was thrilled about the idea of going to london. We settle on that idea, a couple days later I was like, " honey, guess what I just found out! NEW ORDER IS ACTUALLY GOING TO BE IN LONDON WHILE WE"RE IN LONDON!" It was at this point she saw right through my little scheme. Knowing how much I liked New Order, she agreed to go to the concert. (She is a fan of Classical music, so New Order is not really her thing)

We got to london on that thursday, and did a the touristy thing. I had a nice time going around the city, it's very nice. But my mind was mostly focused on June 9th, I really couldn't wait!

The day finally arrived, we got there a bit early, so we decided to go around to the local pubs. I was delighted to meet many New Order fans who were at the pubs. We finally went in, the weather was just crappy, but that didn't stop me from having a great time. Echo and the bunnymen came on, I was pleased, because I really like them also. When Air came on, we positioned ourselves in the front, to get ready for New Order. I was filled with joy as soon as they came out. We soon lost our position in front because of the the excited fans behind up rushing to the front, we still had a great view from where we were standing. I just had the time of my life that day, I really enjoyed seeing other getting just as excited as I was to see New Order. My wife was a great sport, se tolerated the bad weather and the happy dancy jumpy fans, just to let me enjoy the show! I made it up to her later on on our honeymoon were we continued on to paris and cannes in france. I'll never forget the great time that day

Glad to see you made it home ok. I came in last evening and am feeling a bit lagged and the need to detox a bit I think! I was fortunate to stay on longer, drink a few more beers and watch a few more soccer games!!! I'm addicted!

Hey Angie...glad to see you made it back home...and thanks again!!!!

I've learned my lesson, so I guess I'm now a seasoned international tourister...I think I know what to do and what not to do now....maybe the order will give us another excuse to go back next year....I can't wait to go back...
