obsesive comparison

Most people I know think that I'm completely obsessed with new order, as I own most (but most deffinately not all) new order releases on varying formats, having been to see them on a few occasions, having watched a few films and read a few books about them, bought an original clone theory pedal, constantly searching for a Shergold marathon 6 and having sent a couple of emails to Chris Eccleshal about purchasing a 335 style bass.

However, today I have been a member of NOOL for 4 years and have a post count of only 663, at least I can console myself with the fact that I am not as bad as some, and have far too many other things in my life (like eating and sleeping) to catch up with other members that have only been on a year!

How bad is your obsession, and what do family, friends and collegues think of your NO fanaticism.

While mine is tame compared to others here, my family just understands it as 'my thing'....

I've been a member longer than that, and have fewer posts by far. I log in almost daily to check in, but would rather lurk than post.

My Wifey tolerates my near-obsession quietly, she has to deal with me buying tons of NO/JD/Factory shit, I am always watching it on YouTube, etc. My kids hate it.

My obsession would seem extremely tame, but I do admit to singing both the original version and the Japanese language version of 'Krafty' (included as a bonus song on the Japanese release of WFTSC) on karaoke machines in karaoke places over here.

My ringtone for my phone calls and emails on my phone are both New Order songs, as well. Not to mention, my email address for my mobile phone references New Order.

It's got worse over the last few years, but still pretty tame compared to some folks on here...

I was obsessive in the 80s, couldn't have cared less through the 90s and rediscovered them with Get Ready.

Since then I've tried to buy all the stuff I'd missed in between and I'm always on the look out for rarities (and I too have contacted Eccleshall.)

The kids are being indoctrinated, the wife raises her eyebrows, friends and colleagues think I'm an 80s throwback.

That could be quite an interesting connection between fans, I have a few OCD tendencies, it has been stated that hooky is "an OCD hoarder" we all seem to obsessively collect anything NO related.

Strange thing OCD, at work today there were some chairs behind me, I wasn't facing them, so they weren't in my line of sight, but I new they weren't straight, and was getting irritated enough to get up and straighten them, weird!

Jed, I'm in similar boat to you mate - member for four years and just 400+ posts. There would probably have been more if I'd not had to rely on my work's PC for most of that time.

I don't find it an obsession, although my mates think it is. It's just 'there', a part of life continuously since about 1988.

I don't think I'm obsessive. I couldn't care less whether or not I've the Krapistzan import of Spooky, or how many formats I have BM on. That doesn't drive me. What drives me is an unconditional love for the music.

I probably would struggle to compare record collections with some of the professional NO obsessives on here, but I'm a Manc, NO are part of my birthright, and I'll be NO til the day I die.

Glazed expressions are the most common response, although my step Dad and best man are quite sympathetic...
