Terrible. It would be one thing for Doc Martens to use Ian Curtis in an ad, as Ian actually wore Doc Martens...

But he most certainly never wore converse. What a bunch of shit. At least I don't think he did.

I think using dead people to advertise a product that have no relation to is dodgy.

Reminds me of how Nike put out ads advertising thier "vintage" line in magazines like Nylon......with Beaverton Oregon d as thier office....so stupid trendy hipster and indie kids will buy Nikle shoes while being too dumb to know that Nike is infamous for using sweat shop labor...that and thier shoes are fucking ugly.

ADIDAS all the way.

I do not know if ADIDAS use sweat shop labor...but I LOVE thier shoes.

Anyways....

I stand corrected then! :)

I still don't like the campaign though....doesn't sit right with me, using deceased people to sell shoes.

It's all good if Natalie or Deborah is getting some commission.

Brainiac.

You unload on "trendy hipster and indie kids" for wearing Nike while not being aware of allegations of sweatshop production lines.

Yet you admit to having no idea if Adidas does the same while still buying their shoes.

In other words, you're just as clueless as they are.

Plenty of killer Nike shoes out there. That's why Adi were forced to lick their balls for so many years. Plenty of killer Adi too. And plenty of butt-ugly ones.

To categorise all Nikes as "f*cking ugly" is moronic. There's a zillion different styles out there. Far from just being the refuge of "hipsters", models like AF1, AJ and Dunks earned their reps on the street. People killed for them and still do.

I buy one pair of Adidas about every two years. To my knowledge, they do not use sweat shop labor. Thats to my knowledge though, so I might be wrong.

Nike does use sweat shop labor, its been no secret for 10 years now. When I was in high school in the late 90s there was this huge media stink about Nike's use of sweat shop labor.

So i just think think its funny that so many of the Ultra PC music kids in my city all went out and bought Nike shoes after Nike began running ads in magazines like Vice and Nylon. These ads list "Beaverton, Oregon" as being where these shoes are made, in a magazine whose target demographiic are young, left leaning hip college students.

What I think is funny that they have all gone out and bought these shoes, and have no idea about Nike's history with sweat shop labor.

I just think its funny that so many of these people have been duped by a marketing campaign into buying something from a company that, if they knew thier history, they might not support.

We are just going to have to disagree here. I think all Nike shoes are fucking ugly. Thats just my opinion. Obviously many folks wear Nike shoes so many folks think differently..

Regarding this converse ad with Ian....I suppose if Natalie or Debbie gets a cut, its alright.
