Do all versions of low-life contain the same mix of the Perfect Kiss?
I swear I can hear Bernard's vocals, low in mix, as he is starting to sing the 'when' from the 'when you are alone at night...' verse not included in the version on my vinyl & CD releases of the album.
does this concur or are my ears making things up for a laugh?

Which version are you saying you do hear this on?
Mark the 'whu ...' is Barney singing the bridge verse to the big middle section of PK and your ears do not deceive you. Without the material in front of me I can't remember but I'm (almost) confident that the original vinyl did not have this verse included thus Barney goes 'Whu' before being wiped out by naughty editing. This naughty editing is also in evidence on the 7" of BLT, Shellshock etc. around that time of NO.
Yup, it's present and (scandalously in)correct on MY vinyl and CD versions of "Low Life" too !! 
Just blame the shoddy editing Mark - the orginal 8.45 mins 12" version condensed to just 4.49 mins !! As a result of this editing (excepting the early Factory cassette editions which included the 12" and its B-sides as extra tracks), you never actually get to hear the title mentioned in its lyrics. Besides, "Low Life" is full of dodgy edits - despite being my fave ever New Order record - "Elegia" has been similarly chopped from its original 16mins-plus version to just under 5mins .....
well...it ain't on my American Version...excuse me...the U.S. release of low-life....it's missing that whole middle part...how can it be TPK without that whole line about his friend taking his final breath????
this is an atrocity....it's horrid...it's almost as bad as Slow Jam, but not quite....

I'm not sure you understand well: the middle part is missing in all versions of Low-life, but you can hear the first half second of it (the "wh...").
no big daddy...I can't hear it on mine...but I don't have the best hearing any longer...must be all the heavy machinery I've worked aound!!!!

What version of TPK clocks in at 8:45?
Substance has it lasting 8:02. Isn't that the 12".
The one on Substance is edited. Get yer 12" and stopwatch at the ready......8:45, original and best.
