Hello! I was thumbing through my brother's vinyl yesterday and came across a copy of Blue Monday (original UK 12" release) and noticed that the labels were reversed. I'm not expecting this to be any great rarity, but wondered if this was a "known" mispress?

Yep, 'second Rocket. Mine (bought on the day of release) as the same reversed labels. Much to my believe, I thought that it was another of Factory funny things at the time.

When I bought my original copy I remember I was vaguely pissed off to find the labels were on the wrong sides.
In those days, teenagers didn't immediately think of selling rarities on EBay 
Fcuk me, everyone owns the mispressed copy - has anyone got the copy proper?! I don't think I've ever seen one!

Indeed, does anyone even know what it looks like?
I'm guessing it's exactly the fcuking same ... but with the labels reversed? But I could be wrong. Does anyone know, has anyone been lucky enough to get hold of a copy?

My mate had one with them the right way round. It was also missing the two leading beats at the start of BM, ie the sound started with the semi-quaver bassdrum roll.
Does anyone remember when John Peel played it for the first time and we got 'The Beach' instead of 'Blue Monday'? Maybe he too had one with the labels the wrong way round?
Well, bizarrely, I've just found my copy out (for the first time since its year of release) bought on the day of release and the labels are correct! What I will also say is, my brother's copy has a glossy black inner sleeve, die-cut outer, whereas mine seems the same in every respect apart from the inner sleeve being glossy silver. He says he definitely bought his in the first few weeks of release.
Yep. Just played it and it is missing the first (6?) beats of the usual version. Matrix numbers are FAC - 73 - A - 1 and FAC - 73 - B - 1. Bluddy 'ell, 25 years since I last played that vinyl. I feel old.
I have a pink and white label 12" copy of BM. Pink blank label one side and white blank the other. BM starts with the two individual beats unlike the original. Can anyone tell me anything about its origins? I bought it from a local recored shop around 88/89? Thanks in advance.
Is it the original mix Mark, or the Blue Monday '88 remix?
If it's the latter, it's probably the DJ promo copy - there were a few around at the time, but I've never seen one on EBay.

Would be the 88 remix that me old mucker.
Factory did put some pink labels on the blue monday88 and fine time releases,i have them both but they are stowed away to avoid dust contamination.
As for the mispressed labels, at last count i think i had 13 different 12's of b.m , wil never get time to play/check them all so cant really comment on that one squire..

Just looked in mi rec box and the first 2 b.m's 83,an italian and uk press were both the wrong way round.
Does that make the italian one even rarer digi?
