Your favorite non single songs and why?

I tend to find alot of album tracks are sometimes more appealing to me then the singles. So who else has a list of non single songs by the order, that they adore? For me it's as follows

Close Range-The chorus is catchy, and I enjoy it live, also one of the better songs with a point.

Times Change-A smart commentary on their world, even if it was a "Rap" it still had some charm. I also enjoy the strings used, very moving, at least to me.

5 8 6-More unique then it's sister track "Blue Monday", yet it retains it's own identity among the tracks on PCL.

Ultraviolence-This song's got a lot going for it, the beat is very unique, and the bass lines by hooky are among my personal favorites.

Dracula's Castle-Very interesting, and sounds like it was supposed to be a single. The lyrics may be bland, but Barney's voice fits the song well.

Who's Joe?-This song somehow reminds me of the era of post punk. The bass around the chorus is also very elegant.

Everyone Everywhere-This is my favorite track on Republic, the guitars and the lyrics create an atmosphere.

Avalanche-This should've been on the Fan disc of Retro. This song is one of their most amazing instrumentals. I wish there would be an extended mix, of some sort, because they never made a track like this afterwards.

Special-This track, showcases some of the most genuine emotion that NO has. The bass by hooky and the keyboards, create an engulfing sadness when I do listen to it. I'm always reminded of the album cover when listening to it, seeing the couple playing on the beach, and then the home in flames.

Leave Me Alone-An elegant track, showcasing some of the best the band has. Barney's singing voice here is very different then most of the other songs. And the whole song just is timeless.

Behind Closed Doors-This song may be a B-side, but it could've easily fit on Get Ready. The strings here are amazing, and the ending is quite epic.

i've actually never fully heard brotherhood, low life, and technique. But I recall vanishing point from the best of. Good track!

How come you ain't heard these?

I inherited my NO collection from my dad, he had republic, and the rest of, since then I purchased almost all of their singles collections. Yet after Retro, i've been too broke to purchase the remaining albums.

That I shall, I did get PCL recently, and as most fans say it is a masterpiece. I most likely am going to purchase brotherhood next, they state it's quite good.

Dream Attack ... this song reminds me of my early youth, I was 18 when technique was released...

Face up is the first one that comes to mind so I'll go with that.

like several posters above, i'd say face up. it's my second favourite NO track (after here to stay), and, frankly, it just makes me bob my head and want to dance. close range would be a close second. i can't explain it, it's just a cracking song! great chorus, as well.

I like New Order's album songs more than their singles. Only Temptation, True Faith and Run beat some of the following songs:

love vigilantes... this was the opening track at their last concert in henry kaiser convention center. it got the whole crowd going. wow!

I've always loved Vanishing Point as it was the soundtrack to my life at the time.

I have to agree with Shug, I absolutely love Turn. It's probably the most played song in my car - and probably responsible for at least 3 of the points on my licence

Sooner Than You Think

Because it sounds loose but full of ideas.

Great bass melodies, Barney's lyrics about fights in hotel rooms and the way the ending builds over the last minute and a half.

I would like to add All Day Long, and Every Little Counts, they're both so elegant in a sense.

Without a douby Your sileent face and Vanishing point two of my all time NO tracks. Turn, Wheres Joe, Infact anything off PC&l and Technique, two of the greatest albums ever IMHO.

Let's Go has grown to be one of my top NO tunes. Very clever and could've been a great single. Sing along chorus is insanely catchy, and haha barney's nana's are intense.

Vanishing Point.

The Utah Saints remixed it in 94 for a potential single, and I remember this mix was originally mooted as a track on "(the rest of)"

Sunrise-- The intro and lyrics are great Dream Attack-- very light sound Vanishing Point-- good example of house music This Time of Night-- dark and surreal
