what NO song do you wish you had written?

there are some songs i listen to and think: 'wow! i wish i had written that song. what a brilliant piece of music!' the one that comes to mind most often is 'how soon is now' by the smiths.

with new order, i would say 'regret.' it's not my favourite NO song, but it's so catchy and all the instruments just fit perfectly together.

this differs from my favourite NO song, 'here to stay.' with HTS a lot of what makes the song great is the chemical brothers' production. with 'regret' i love the song purely for the tune.

I really love the lyrics to True Faith but I don't think I'd want to go through the experiences that one might have to in order to find the inspiration to write such a piece.

I'll say Mr. Disco. It's bittersweet and well penned.

'1963' and 'Here To Stay'. Both clever and well thought out in there own way.

I would like to have said 'Ceremony' but that probably isn't allowed, right.

I'd go with Leave me alone, its just unlike anything else in their career.

Too many to mention... Love Vigilantes probably as my favorite NO song, but All The Way has been getting a lot of airplay here at the moment too...

I would go with the songs that seem impossible to have been written, because they are so different from 'typical' songs.

I can't imagine anyone but New Order in their more creative moments having found a way to put together:

I do love stuff like True Faith, Everyone Everywhere, Regret, Crystal, Krafty, etc but I feel like, as a songwriter, those songs are more easily crafted, and a bit less unique.

There was definitely a period between 1983 and 1989 when New Order were writing some brilliant music, music that couldn't even be imagined at the time until it was heard....

Any other songwriters here know what the hell I am talking about, or do I need to go take a nap?

YSF - Even though a bit off a kraftwerk rip off Thieves Like Us (Instrumental) Vanishing Point Temptation Run

YSF was shown on setlists as KW1 as late as the 2001 tour.

BLT or Perfect Kiss!! Fucking wall of fucking brilliance... will never forget the first times I ever heard them. Especially Perfect Kiss. I remember saying out loud, "fucking hell! I'm gonna write a song like that one day..." (and BLT) then I took up synth shortly after.. needless to say I never did write my hit. fuck! though I could but I'm a lazy ass shit with a lack of good synth equipment.
