crap poll then.

Not sure how the Furs would top it.

Whats the definition of New Wave anyway?

Thought it was more Soft Cell, Tubeway Army, Visage etc

How could NO come in second to The Furs?

Unbelievable!

i am surprised they are even top ten... most of us americans, if asked to name a new wave band, would name some crappy commercial band like Duran Duran or Thompson Twins....

when ever someone asks me what music i like around here, and i say new order, they usually have no idea what i am talking about.

psychedelic furs probably made #1 cause of all the cheesy 80s film soundtracks they were on.

Pfft....'New Wave':nono:

Rolling Stone magazine is the absolute lowest common denominator in the music industry, IMO.

It's not surprising that such a magazine would pigeon-hole them as a 'new wave' band, whatever the hell that's supposed to mean.

Luckily, over here in Japan, they are NOT regarded as an '80s band' or a 'new wave' band by any means.

Echo and the Bunnymen came in on the first place, after that No and Talking Heads.

Wow, you learn something new every day. Apparently the term "New Wave" was coined by Seymour Stein, the head of Sire Records. It is a "catch-all" phrase for things that can't be classified as punk or disco, I suppose. I guess we can blame the good old US for grouping everyone together under that umbrella.

I like the Psychedelic Furs, but I don't think they should top NO. Weird.
