Now if my memory serves me right, there were two videos for this song. Which do you folks prefer? The vice filled epic in cannes? Or that live performance edit, with the single mix of the song.
World(price of love)

There were 2 versions of the Cannes video. One set to an album edit and the other to the Perfecto edit. The French footage is a bit cheesy but is prefered to the "performance" clip that stirs memories of the dismal 1993 tour.
The Cannes video. It was superbly directed, and I have to say the bird with the sugar daddy had a great arse. ![]()
its good except the terrible actor and actress scene where they pose for a photo. they cant act to save their lives.
I quite like the singing eunuch, who seems to just waltz down the stairs. He looks familiar, even has world in motion esque shades. This is in the Cannes video mind you, not that radio edit. By the way, does Steve actually play drums on that one live? Or better yet, did he? And what exactly is hooky playing, I never heard any of his bass in the song.

I always thought it was a sort of joke on "love's got the world in motion"

I wonder the same thing myself!
From the live footage I have seen.....it looks like Hooky is actually playing the "dun-dun-dundun-dun" bass line most of the time......and you can kind of hear him doing some sort of solo at the end....
Steve did play drums on it live. The live version also featured some extra female vocal samples during the bridge.

I remember him saying in an interview at that time that he wrote a bass part for the song but that Bernard used it as the lead vocal line.

World is probably called World because the organ solo bit resembles the bit on the theme from World In Action (old investigative journalism programme produced by Granada Television in the UK which Tony Wilson was involved in for a while) where it got a bit funky with an organ solo - the sound is exactly the same. It's probably the work in progress title of the song and they couldn't be arsed to change it. Probably.

Is this a technical term?

Cheers mate, just to illustrate this, have a look at this. The music comes right at the end and the bit I'm on about comes when the name Ray Fitzwalter comes up. The documentary itself is a pretty bleak assessment of life in an area of Birkenhead in the early '80s, be prepared to turn the Perfecto mix of World up very loud afterwards, throw your hands in the air and whoop like Bernard.
I also saw this, this is just the first part - shows the reaction surrounding the growing :)acid house:) movement ("a sinister evil cult
...few people know where it came from :D") at the time, should be of interest to some!
On one of these videos I heard that they had got on each others tits so much that they had to be filmed seperately.

I've always wondered that - but then again, how many song titles in the canon actually make any sense?

Maybe cause there's to be a new republic called the New Order, that rules the world, taking away currency as we know it, and instead everyone trades in honey?:D
