New Order Remasters Release Date - 22/09/08

Spotnik, Can you tell us who to write or email to let them know that the fans are truly tired of substandard reissues that add no value or quality? If these are just repeats of the JD remasters (remember the excuse "yeah they're s*** and they don't include what the fans have been asking for, but if the New Order crew hadn't of gotten involved they would have even been more s***") then they can count me out. Think about it:

Best of NO: Just half of "Substance" with a few more recent tracks and redundant remixes.

NO Box set: same tracks as all the other "best of discs" with the exception of a dodgy live disc and a fifth disc the fans had to brow-beat them into including. If they think having pseudo-celebrities choose their favorite tracks added anything worthwhile to the whole affair then the band are mistaken.

Singles collection: stereo channels reversed and many single versions left off in favor of album versions.

When are these guys going to stop trying to rip us off???

well, there are the U2 remasters coming out too!

Maybe they could have acappella versions on the second discs...or Kareoke versions? So the kids can learn to sing to New Order!

Or the 05-06 tour backing tapes, since they sometimes sound like midis on steroids.

I totally agree with this post below. I think New Order, or London Records, or Rhino Records, or whoever is taking charge of the catalogue these days needs to see this and understand the sub-standard bullshit the band has been putting out under Joy Division and New Order.

They got it spot on with the new DVD: a great recording of a "greatest hits" live set that actually sounded live rather than mixed after the event (including some nice "human" mistakes"). Back with a great retrospective look at their (sometimes shambolic) live performances from over the decades.

However, leave the live rarities for the DVDs. Any second disc should be in the mould of the excellent Pet Shop Boys and Fall reissues - b-sides, rareties, unreleased, demos, etc. Not more live tracks I'll only listen to once.

I'll be very disappointed if it's just live tracks on the second CDs.

Substance is my favourite album of all time, so they'd better do a good job of re-releasing that!

Not sure how true this is, but I found a site that, on May 12th, quotes Steve as saying "I was talking to Hooky a couple of weeks ago, and he's found some old tapes for the extra tracks. We're all getting involved in hunting down unreleased stuff."
