Inspired by the Turn versus Run poll, I put the two technique masterpieces against eachother.

Tough call, both are in my top ten New Order songs. I chose Mr. Disco though, I can listen to that nonstop.

Both musically good, but lyrically, Vanishing Point fails for me

Vanishing Point, easily

Vanishing Point - classic. Also, it reminds me of playing Frontier: Elite II. Don't know why... it just does.

Vanishing Point because of the lyrics.....

I couldn't decide. Maybe I'll pick one later.

Like choosing between lap dance & BJ...

Both great, wouldn't turn either down!

I choose not to vote! :shades:

Vanishing Point easily for me.

One day I will attempt an edited version and a longer (than 5 minutes) version of this song, to prove that it should have been the first single on Technique.

Don't bother viewing or commenting on the topic then.

And anyway, this is the "Digital Republic" board, where people can "chat and talk about New Order."

So, whats so idiotic about being on the New Order website, discussing New Order songs?????

Because its a ridiculous, vague and ultimately meaningless comparison that everybody was bored with when I joined up six years ago.

So..... don't reply then.

Some people haven't discussed this, some people like discussing these things.

Just because you have been on these boards for six years doesn't give you the right to dismiss what people want to discuss.

My advice to you, is to keep the fuck off this particular thread if you don't like what is being discussed. :thumb:

I dont think its a ridiculous thread at all. I think new members especially want to know these things.

Personally VP. The combination of 4/4 house with fairly sad and haunting bass/keyboards is really effective

"Mr. Disco", of course. A very good song with cool live versions.

I vote for VP, and incidentally, have tied it at 9 to 9.

So for me, reason enough to vote if just to stir up something.

I have the right to say anything I want. If I want to say a thread is idiotic, or if i want to say a band are shit, then by fuck I will.

Sure and if we want to talk about two New Order songs we will.

But don't ridicule what people are talking about with your hollier than thou attitude just because you might have discussed it six fucking years ago.

I finally made my decision: Vanishing Point

Mr. Disco

Mr. Disco is a very good track, but Vanishing Point is a classic, one of their best compositions, ever!

Indeed!

Thank you all very much indeed. I appreciate the input and opinions, though I do have to say, the songs are amazing live as well. Though, if I had to choose, I prefer Vanishing point live, barney even sings it right for fooks sake!

I love them both, but I give Vanishing Point the slight edge.

vanishing point over that stalker song. Mr. Disco sounds a bit outdated and VP sounds timeless.

I went with West End Girls

I should've included that as an option. That, or Duran Durans come undone.

VP for me. Better lyrics and a bit more "edgy" than Mr Disco. Always thought Here to Stay spawned from VP, I don't know why, maybe the same vibe.

Vanishing Point by a country mile. It has a truly epic quality and showcases each member's talents. Mr. Disco - one of my least favourite New Order tracks, and I hate the title. I'd rather have Don't Do It on the album!

I find Vanishing Point far better (lyrics & music). After all these years, Technique still remains my favorite NO album, but Mr Disco gives me now the impression to have been written too easily.

Good point !well said.

As it is how it sounds.

Damn, that was a real tough decision. But I went with Vanishing Point. It sounds richer than Mr. Disco, although these two songs are my two favourites off my favourite New Order album.
