Your favorite re-recorded songs

Well my obsession with NO/JD re-recording material started with the extended version of She's lost control. Ever since then, I try to gather the many variations of their recordings. Some of them, stick out as almost superior to the originals, some are minimal in difference.

I prefer Bizarre Love Triangle '94 to the original, where as I cant stand 1963 '94. Nor can I stand True Faith '94, it was a lame attempt to make it a dancier club song. Yet, Round and Round '94 rivals the original technique recording, and adds some dimension. Back to 1963, Arthur Baker's remix from '95 adds a beautiful hooky segment, and a gloomy guitar driven atmosphere.

I really never understood how every version of temptation was perfect, but this tune is pure class. I still hold gripes with Blue Monday '88 and '95..they just don't feel the same. Would've loved if Barney joined pottsy on the community version of the Village. Hell i'd even enjoy a technique era interpretation of Ultraviolence. I haven't heard the confusion 02 remixes, but im sure theres atleast one i'd love. Since im on Confusion, i'll take the version of it on Retro(pop) to the slower singles version, oh and the substance version was trash. Now mind you, the substance version is a better choice for a live performance.

I like all versions of Temptation, but I must say that I like the Substance version the most.

Arthur bakers mix of 1963 is just fantastic and proves that he understands how to mix hooky a damn site more the steven hague, if all that bass was in the original recordings and hague dropped it I can't help wondering how much more bass there was in true faith.

the confusion 02 mixes are ok but the original 1983 mixes are best, substance version is cack, as is the substance version of temptation, the more recent live versions of temptation are fantastic, but for a studio mix I think the singles mix is pretty much perfect, but could do with a better ending.

All mixes of BM other than the original 83 mix now seem more dated than the oldest version.

the instrumental version of TLU (B side of murder) has a great subtley different intro (subtle other than the obviouse barney saying come in)

the 12inch of round&round has a great hooky solo type bit whch just kicks ass.

Temptation '98 would be my favorite version if it wasn't only half the song. So the honor goes to the '87 version.

I like all three versions of Temptation (1982, 1987 Substance version, as well as the 98 re-release). I also thought the re-recorded version of Confusion (on Substance) was good as well.

Right now,I can't honestly think of one that's better than the original.That doesn't mean to say I don't like most of them,but in the cases of BLT'94 & True Faith'94,what was the fookin' point,they're virtually identical.At least with BM'95,it gave it something new,even tho' that something was shite.I view 1963'95 as a completely different song,the only thing they have in common is the vocal line really.Love the bass

I have to say, I really like the New Order recording of Isolation, maybe even more than the JD version

IMO Temptation from Substance is a hugely improved version compared to the original. I also prefere Touched to TBTHOG. Its more energised and electic.

Although I like the Arthur Baker version of 1963, I have to say that I dont think Hookys bass part fits the song very well. It think it just makes the song sound crowded with the keyboards as well.
